Casio GW-1400DU-1AVER waveceptor solar October 31, 2008 Jim Simpson (Musselburgh, East Lothian United Kingdom) Couldn't believe the value of this watch for 56.99 but it's true. Watch is a bit deep in the case and it took a while to figure out how to remove links in the band but it works perfectly. I already have a Casio dress watch of this type but this is the ideal sports-type watch and never needs updating for time or a new battery. I've seen it elsewhere for well over 100 so this is a real steal! As usual, Amazon ordering and delivery was impeccable even with free delivery.

It may be bulky but what you get packed inside more than makes up for it. Solar powered, had mine since March 2007 and since summer has seen relatively little sun since (due to our perfect climate in good old Blitey) but still continues to show a high charge and according to the booklet for 8 mins spent in the sun the little bugger will quite happily run with no more charge for 9 months. Atomic time keeping, bizarly enough I found it picked up the signal quicker in southern Spain from the German station than in Essex from the UK station. But generally always updates at the same time in the UK, at 4.02am. Gave up testing the speaking clock after a few days. They are the 2 biggest pluses for me but with an additional 24 time zones (if you really need them). Stopwatch, pretty funky blue back light and water resistant to 200 metres, that I often have to reach after dropping in my back garden pool. All in all if you want a watch that looks cool, no you don't need Terminator like wrists to wear this. Want a ecologically friendly watch with accurate time keeping that you can boast goes down deeper than a deep sea diver! This is for you, plus it will take most knocks and bangs your ordinary watch would clock out for the same.

This was a present, and turned out to be a lot chunkier than I had expected. In spite of its bulk, I have got used to it, and it has been utterly solid and reliable. Definitely not for elegant evening wear, but looks like it will last for ever, and will always be right.
