Product Description Harrison Ford, Shia LaBeouf, Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone
Amazon.co.uk Review Nearly 20 years after riding his last Crusade, Harrison Ford makes a welcome return as archaeologist/relic hunter Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, an action-packed fourth installment that's, in a nutshell, less memorable than the first three but great nostalgia for fans of the series. Producer George Lucas and screenwriter David Koepp (War of the Worlds) set the film during the cold war, as the Soviets--replacing Nazis as Indy's villains of choice and led by a sword-wielding Cate Blanchett with black bob and sunglasses--are in pursuit of a crystal skull, which has mystical powers related to a city of gold. After escaping from them in a spectacular opening action sequence, Indy is coerced to head to Peru at the behest of a young greaser (Shia LaBeouf) whose friend--and! Indy's colleague--Professor Oxley (John Hurt) has been captured for his knowledge of the skull's whereabouts. Whatever secrets the skull holds are tertiary; its reveal is the weakest part of the movie, as the CGI effects that inevitably accompany it feel jarring next to the boulder-rolling world of Indy audiences knew and loved. There's plenty of comedy, delightful stunts--ants play a deadly role here--and the return of Raiders love interest Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood, once shrill but now softened, giving her ex-love bemused glances and eye-rolls as he huffs his way to save the day. Which brings us to Ford: bullwhip still in hand, he's a little creakier, a lot grayer, but still twice the action hero of anyone in film today. With all the anticipation and hype leading up to the film's release, perhaps no reunion is sw! eeter than that of Ford with the role that fits him as snugly ! as that fedora hat. --Ellen A. Kim

Best audio but not much story December 29, 2008 Simon Donald (Scotland, Montrose) I, like most was a fan of the original indiana jones films, the iconic archeologist with the famous whip and hat, so I had to buy the first blu ray indy film! The story is pretty weak, mashing up sci-fi and UFO's with a 50's time setting. Initially a good idea to push Indy 20 years, but has ended up making him look out of place. In this present time the story is very pale and is probably been too late to acheive the status of the previous 3 films. It is obvious this was a cash cow lucas and speilberg could not let go. The blu ray itsself is a decent transfer but does shwo up the over use of CGI backgrounds which make the film rather dated in my eyes. There is also a lot of "post production polishing" which makes a lot of scenes too shiny and bright. The best part of this film is the audio. Recorded at English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround track (48kHz/24-bit) its a true master peice of noise to warm your ears, every scene feels alive with depth of rich sound. Their are plenty of extras for the blu ray copy which will keep most fans happy whilst we wait for the original blu ray trilogy to appear
Can someone answer me this? December 20, 2008 Pedro Mendes does this blu ray edition comes with portuguese subtitles?? IMPORTANT NOTE : PORTUGUESE FROM PORTUGAL NOT PORTUGUESE BRASILIAN thanks to anyone who can help me
A welcome return of the action hero December 19, 2008 Wiltshire Bookworm (Chippenham) As our first venture into the medium of Blu-Ray this film didn't disappoint. Both sound and vision are excellent - Blu-Ray must have been invented for big action movies. As the fourth in the Indiana Jones stories, it's the weakest of them all. If it had been the first I would have probably have rated it more highly, but the first three have set a far higher standard than this delivers. Most of the characters (played by John Hurt, Karen Allen and Ray Winstone) are woefully underused. Only Kate Blanchett has enough script to show us her stuff and she clearly revels in her 'pantomime baddie' role. There are some neat references to the first three movies, but the plot has too many holes in it to fully deliver. Some of the scenes aren't followed up on, such as the skull/Indie interplay, which makes me wonder if huge parts of the original plot ended up on the cutting room floor. It's still a hugely entertaining film and it's good to see the Spielberg/Lucas/Harrison Ford partnership back together again.
Audio track in Castilian Spanish too December 12, 2008 jjaviroquai (Spain) Just to inform, this Blu Ray has too the audio track in Castilian SPANISH (spain). And you can see too all the extras with subtitles in spanish. This film has fantastic extras, and the movie itself is fantastic.
Wonderful sound and visuals but lacklustre plot November 21, 2008 Champak (Leeds, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well, while blu ray experience and especially watcjing on 7.1 channel is wonderful but alas, PLOT is terribly confused. It doesn't make sense at all, but cinematography is gorgeous. In next 6 months, it will be available for less than 10.
