Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Rightly one of Disney's most celebrated animated classics, Lady and the Tramp is the story of a romance between two dogs from different walks of life. On the one hand, there's Lady, a golden cocker spaniel used to a very good life. And then she meets a mongrel, who goes by the name of Tramp. Clearly from the wrong side of town, Tramp and Lady nonetheless strike up a friendship, and when fate plays its hand, the two set off on their travels together, which doesn't quite go quite as either expected.

Made in an age where Disney animation was on tip-top form, there's so much to enjoy here it's hard to know where to start. The exquisite animation and carefully woven script though both provide an excellent grounding for the film, which is then considerably enhanced by a wonderful musical score. Add in that scene, often parodied, as the two share a romantic meal in an Italian restaurant, and a pair of characters that you can't help but root for, and you have an unmissable classic for the whole family to enjoy.

Lady and the Tramp successfully weaves together moments of comedy, adventure and music really quite seamlessly. And yet, at its heart, this is a tender, extremely well told love story, that rightly sits as one of the finest animated movies the Disney empire have created. Great stuff.--Simon Brew

5 out of 5 stars One of the best Disney classics   June 2, 2007

I regard Lady and The Tramp as one the best Disney classics that I have watched. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this classic. Disney has delivered a masterpiece with this fine piece of animation feature length.

Lady and The Tramp truly reflects the key values and qualities of what Disney films entail, which include endless humour, uplifting music and colourful characters. The storyline is a sweet romantic tale about two loveable dogs; a Lady (Spaniel) and Tramp (Irish terrier) and the innocence of this special bonding is something to really admire. The setting of the movie is based in the 1950's, which is beautifully delivered with wonderful animation you can highly praise within that specific time. With technology highly available today and scarce within those days, a superb job has been achieved on the animation front, but the storyline and sheer innonence of the characters what propels this movie to a Disney classic.

Lady and The Tramp without doubt represents Disney finest piece of animation that I have seen and enjoyed watching. Relieve the magical and musical moments of Disney, by watching Lady and the Tramp. It is all round family entertainment for all to enjoy and cherish.

5 out of 5 stars Will touch your heart   November 25, 2006

If you're looking for a movie which will touch your heart, this one should be at the top of your list. The dinner that lady has with the tramp at Tony's may bring tears of joy to your eyes. This is a movie you can watch again and again because of the wonderful characters, the great songs, and the beautiful animation. Lady and the Tramp remains one of the most supremely delightful animated films of all time. I just finnished reading Why Some Cats Are Rascals, Book 3. It's another touching story, a perfect candidate for another great Disney animation. I hope they will do that.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Love Story   May 14, 2006

A classic Disney film, the viewer finds themselves in small town America, 1910, as Christmas arrives. And the loveable Lady pup is a gift from Jim Dear to his wife Darling to celebrate the occasion.

Lady soon makes good friends with the neighbouring dogs, Jock, and Trusty, and is quite contented. Then Aunt Sarah arrives to help out with the new baby and suddenly Lady is not the centre of her owners world and, added to the fact that she is treated unfairly by Sarah, she feels quite unhappy.

Cue The Tramp! A charming mongrel of a dog, with a 'devil may care' attitude. Lady runs off with him after a nasty moment with Aunt Sarah's 'precious' cats Si and Am.

Lady and The Tramp embark on some adventures together, and go on the world famous candlelit dinner at Tony's restaurant (you know the scene - the spaghetti and meatballs scene on the cover). Unfortunately, this idyllic lifestyle comes to an abrupt halt when Lady is captured by The Pound.

She meets some of Tramp's companions whilst inside the pound and doesn't like what she hears about his reputation. So, upon return to her home she tries to drive him away.

Then Tramp turns up trying to save the baby from an evil rat. The films climax sees Tramp, Jock, and Trusty all trying to save the baby. In doing so Tramp risks his own life...lots of suspense follows....but Disney DO prefer happy endings...

The film is very adult in many respects, but is extremely watchable at any age. It has been extremely well conceptualized but is still, essentially, a love story. And Disney do love stories very well indeed. It has a good sense of humour injected throughout, and some very amusing characters - you really fall for Tramp's 'loveable rogue' personality.

The animation is good, much more delicate than the Disney releases of recent years. Yes, it is an 'old style' animation, but that only adds to the films beauty. It is one of Disney's most sophisticated films.

Lady and The Tramp is much more detailed than you might expect, or remember from when you were a child. The story lends itself so well to animation and helped to guide Disney away from their fairy-tale era.

I feel this is one of Disney's best offerings. I hope you all enjoy it too.

How could anyone not love this film?!
The classic cartoon has been a long time coming on DVD, but it was worth the wait.
Tramp is hugely lovable and the fantastic Trusty and Jock are brilliant funny characters.
The wonderful Disney format hits the spot time after time. Long may they keep turning out films like this one!

4 out of 5 stars A perfect present for kids of all ages   February 19, 2006

A classic Disney favourite that will make chldren of all ages smile - whether they've never seen it before or if they'd like the chance to watch it for the hundreth time. For avid fans of the film, their are tonnes of extras to keep you entertained; as always with Disney, and they're not quite as lame as the kind you generally find!

Don't think about it, just buy it before Disney cruelly withdraw it from sale and you have to wait another ten years for your next chance!
