THOSE BLUE REMEMBERED HILLS........ December 21, 2006 G. B. Cole (west sussex) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Into my heart an air that kills From yon far country blows: What are those blue remembered hills, What spires, what farms are those? That is the Land of Lost Content, I see it shining plain, The happy highways where I went, And cannot come again........
Stuart Hall a national treasure August 10, 2006 R. DONLAN (Manchester, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just thoroughly recommend you buy this video, it is simply my favourite. If you have had a bad day just get this on and forget your troubles. Stuart Hall, Eddie Waring, nostalgia in bucket loads, there is a bit of the British knockout, but quickly there off to Europe that is when it is priceless. You must see the ostriches going after the rings, the guys trying to stop the bull and the best is last the penguins on the turntable. Then as Stuart Hall says you can rewind it and watch it again.
If you don't laugh at this............ February 15, 2005 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This video is fantastic. I bought it as a joke for someone. We both sat and watched it and had to turn it off after 20 minutes. I could not hardly breathe from laughing and he had a pain in his chest from being in hysterics. I have since introduced it to another of my friends and just the thought of the 12 Labours of Hercules sends us both into hysterics. The hydra in particular is one of our favourites. I can watch it over and over again and still be in stitches. The russian dolls are also fantastic viewing especially when they fall over and the spindley legs of one contestant can be seen frantically trying to regain their balance and stand upright- priceless. Is there a DVD with even more clips?

With the greatest of respect to Keith Chegwin and Frank Bruno who tried to reincarnate "Knockout" in the 90's it is impossible to emulate Stuart Hall,Eddie Waring and Arthur Ellis.I particularly looked forward to coming home from school, quickly doing my homework, having my tea and then a bath before settling down to the battle of European competition against the Germans,Belgians,French and so on.Many thanks to the aforementioned icons of British TV for leaving me with lasting memories I can now relive on this video.
being a contestant and seeing myself again July 24, 2004 eddie holder (Brotton Saltburn North Yorkshire) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Just to say I loved the video but then I would as I was actually in it. I was a contestant in 1976 and one of the clips is Russian dolls and Stuart Hall was in stitches as the teams try to get through the gates,we actually won that game and I was 2nd from last in the dolls as I have pointed out to my grandchildren. It was a fantastic experience to take part and as we won our local contest (Redcar ) we then took part in Germany and also in the Grand Final in the UK at Charnock Richard. I wonder if anyone knows where I can purchase the videos of those events I would be very keen to know. Kind Regards Eddie Holder
