Best of the bunch November 10, 2003 Paul (Wiltshire, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is the best of the F1 reviews from the 80's, in my opinion. The racing and footage are excellent, especially those moments of sublime thuggery from the fantastic Keke Rosberg, and the season reached a terrific climax with Prost, Tambay, Arnoux and Piquet all in the running almost to the end. However, the thing that makes it stand out is the commentary. Rather than overdubbing in the past tense, and telling you -infuriatingly - what you are about to see moments before you see it, as on the other videos, on this one the commentator talks in the present tense, with the excitement of a live broadcast. Screams of 'Get out of the car, Nelson,' as Piquet parks up his flaming Brabham add greatly to the watching experience. On the downside, there is, for no immediately apparent reason, an extremely annoying co-commentator with a strident American accent (Janice from Friends?) who dips in her two-pennorth at times, although thankfully after being told to shut up during the first race she does restrict her banalities to intervals in the action.
Exciting review of the year September 15, 2001 Chris Hutchinson (Cardiff, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Like all the official F1 reviews, this video is exciting and well made. Using fotage not seen on TV, this video acurately depicts a year when the title went down to the wire. A must for any F1 fan.
