Lightweight and easy to use July 2, 2008 Saffron (Buckinghamshire, UK) I bought this after my flymo finally bit the dust (thank goodness, because it was awful!). It is incredibly light, and as other reviewers have said, it is easy to carry one-handed through the garage to the garden, leaving the other hand free to open doors etc. The collection box is quite small, and on my lawn I have to empty it at least 5 times, but that is a minor point overall. This also gives you an excuse to pause for a sip of cold beer on a hot day! Cable is not very long, but that is easily solved with a decent extension lead. This mower has no rollers for those that want stripes, but seeing as my lawn is also used as a football pitch, cricket field and badminton court this is not an issue. very good value, easy to use and has a simple notch adjustment for cutting height. Great overall.
GREAT LAWN MOWER June 1, 2008 M. B. Doyle (Kent UK.) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As this was my first time of buying a lawnmower, I decded to check out the Amazon reviews--the reviews on this lawnmower were almost 100% positive and on the strength of those I bought this lawn mower. I have not been disappointed--it is very light, easy to carry, simple to empty, and efficient at cutting the grass on my uneven small back lawn. I can highly recommend it for small or medium lawn.
Does what it says on the box - and better May 31, 2008 G. Williams (London, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It isn't often one buys a product and can say that it does everything it says on the box - and better. With this mower I believe that's true. I can honestly say that for the ordinary small to medium lawn this is the best I have ever used - by a mile. The grass box is an excellent feature and can be latched-on to the mower easily without any fiddling. It can be pushed with remarkably little effort compared to a hover mower and cuts not strangles the lawn before depositing the grass, leaves and small debris into the grass box. It is that good that it could actually be used as a lawn rake. Medium seems to be the best all-round height cut setting and will also cut slightly damp grass without motor stress. With the handle permanently attached it was too big for my small garden shed so I fitted a garden power connnector between the mower and the handle and simply slot the handle in and connect the lead as and when. Perfect.
A Lawn - Mower. May 13, 2008 A. Downes (north wales) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Its light, it cuts the grass, it collects the grass so that you can put it in the recycling. Genius. Having owned a shockingly poor overly complicated and heavy Flymo, this machine is a real pleasure to use, especially seeing as it was half the price. It feels a smidge flimsy by comparison, but the pay off is an incredibly light machine (perhaps too light?) Its common for the front wheels to lift off the ground before the grass box is full....its THAT light! Height adjustment is easy. Blade speed/sharpness and cutting ability are great.
A basic mower for a basic price May 11, 2008 M. Harrison (London, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My lawn is about 15m x 4m. The once a week, ten minute job hardly merits major investment, and this is just fine. It replaces a woeful battery mower I had before. It has plenty of power and the grass collector is big enough to hold all the clippings from one cut. But this basic mower is no more than that. Anyone who invests any of their masculinity in garden chores - which thankfully I dont - should probably avoid. It is as light and plasticy as a child's toy. The power cable is hopelessly short at 11m (no wonder the manufacturer doesn't tell you in the details), ensuring you have to use an extension lead. The 3 height settings are crude, and altering the height of the mower is comical: the instructions are hard to interrupt, but on turning the mower upside down you discover they should have read 'grab each wheel in turn and yank it into place.' It's a bit unfair to moan at this price. But I would now consider looking a little more closely at competing brands, and maybe spending a few more pounds.
