Great for power cuts in the home November 2, 2008 Mrs. C. M. Strobridge (London) This lantern is safe and gives off enough light enough to see stairs and objects in the room. Charging the lantern is easy and although you cannot read by the light but its great in an am emergency and safer than candles. I will buy more for my aged mother
Waste of time and money October 9, 2008 boudicca 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is useless. Even on batteries it is just as dim as on wind-up. I wish I had read these reviews before I bought it.
Dont bother September 1, 2008 Chris J. F. (b'mth, uk) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this 2 weeks ago as it looked decent enough but unfortunately did'nt read the reviews. Got to the campsite, wound it up and it stayed bright for all of 60 seconds and then dims right down to a nightlight glow, if that. Whatever you do dont buy this its a complete waste of money im surprised its allowed to be sold. So much for trying to help save the planet next time its batteries or gas.
Pretty poor August 31, 2008 Lou F (London UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Not surprised to see the other reviews here. You have to wind it up for ages and it shines brightly for a minute or two then a very dim glow for a while. Took it on a camping trip it total darkness and it was of some use to about 3 foot but had to wind every 20 mins or so and on the sixth wind something went in the handle and it's now broken. Avoid. Not even worth the 8 I paid from Morrisons.
Flimsy August 17, 2008 Andrew Campbell (London, England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this as a present for my brother/his girlfriend who were off camping. It had been out of its packaging for 5 minutes before the handle snapped while winding it up. I can't comment on the brightness because we never got that far with it, but the reviews below don't fill me with confidence that it would have been satisfactory if we had. There are good wind-up lanterns out there and they don't cost the earth, but this is not one of them. I would not recommend this product.
