Disappointed November 22, 2008 Lovin romance and chick lit! I was quite disapointed with this book. Having read a number of Jill Mansell's books, I was expecting this to be as good as them. Even though some of it was funny, overall I found it a bit too boring. If anyone does want to read it to judge it for themselves, then I would recommend you get it from a library as if you do hate it, at least you wouldn't have wasted your money.
Loved it! November 16, 2008 N. Petsa (Perth, Australia) I really loved this book as I do all of Jill Mansell's books. It was really funny and had be laughing lots throughout the book. Can't wait for the next one!
Amazing! November 4, 2008 Livvi (Devon) I really enjoy chic lit any way so I may be a little biased when saying this book is amazing but I've read a lot of chic lit and this comes virtually at the top of my list. I recommend ths book to any one who enjoys reading about a good romance. If you like stories where boy meets girl, girl meets boy, their relationship grows; you'll love this book. The clever twist at the beginning makes the whole book exciting and it's really easy to relate to the main character as she is realistic and down to earth. It's the kind of story where you're willing the main characters to fall in love througout (though I won't spoil the ending!) Any one wanting to read a romantic comedy novel need look no further. This book is 5/5 and I really recommend it!
brilliant! October 28, 2008 Anna (Cheshire, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I loved this book, and since reading it I have discovered how great an author Jill Mansell is and am now busy reading her back list! This is a great book! Its realistic chick lit and written very well. Its not at the mills and boon end of romance but its definitely either a beach or stay in at home with a book read!
Not bad...but not fantastic October 21, 2008 Miss G Abbotts I read the back of the book and thought it sounded interesting, but lo and behold it wasn't. It is not bad, but personally, I found the main character (Lola) to be irritating and I could not sympathise or empathise with her, even from the very beginning. Her love interest Dougie, came across as stand-offish and a bit stuck up, which isn't really a surprise. However this grated after a while as Lola fantasied about them getting back together and how fantastic he was. There are too many storylines, and none of them really get enough said about them, just dipped in and out of. I personally would have liked to have known more about Lola's dad. And the storyline with the flatmates was tied up too neatly and tidily for my tastes. The idea that Lola judged people solely on appearances ws touched on very briefly but not really explored. Despite what I have said it isn't bad to read, and once you have figured out what is going to happen you can sit back and find out if you are right.
