Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
The Buddies puppies (Air Buddies) have been a great team since birth and now that Buddha, Mudbud, Rosebud, Budderball, and B'Dawg have all been adopted by various well-matched families throughout Fernfield Washington, they've each developed a comfortable routine with their new owners. After being chastised by Ms. Mittens (voiced by Whoopi Goldberg) for chasing her kitten, B'Dawg and the rest of the Buddies meet up in the park for a game of ball, but Budderball leads them astray after spotting a truck full of ice cream. What none of them expects after their all-you-can-eat ice cream binge is that they will soon end up parachute dropped into Ferntiuktuk Alaska with what's left of the ice cream shipment. After a night spent alone in a strangely white and very cold world, they are befriended by a young husky dog named Shasta (voiced by Dylan Sprouse) whose young owner Adam (Dominic Scott Kay) wants nothing more in life than to assemble a sled dog team and compete in a dogsled race across Alaska. Assuming that the Buddies are the answer to Adam's prayers for a sled dog team, Shasta convinces the Buddies to race and enlists the legendary sled dog Talon (voiced by Kris Kristofferson) to train them all while Adam pours over his father's old sledding journal and single-handedly constructs a sled that's the perfect size for him and his team. Adam secretly enters the race against his father's wishes and thus begins a perilous, but exhilarating journey that teaches everyone involved a lot about teamwork, faith, and the importance of helping others. While many aspects of this film are completely unbelievable, the talking Buddies are adorable, the plot is significantly improved over the movie's predecessor Air Buddies, and the wholesome message will appeal to children and adults alike. --Tami Horiuchi

1 out of 5 stars It's not cute   November 8, 2008

If you like watching animals in a circus, or shut up in a pet shop window with nowhere to run or play with inadequate water or ventilation, and you think "aren't puppies cute" and don't think about pet farms etc, then this film is for you.

3 out of 5 stars Lets get this right - a FILM review is it not?   October 12, 2008

So, whilst I am 100% for the protection of animals, we need to get the balance right. This is not an animal rights protest site - it is a film review site. If anyone has actually SEEN the film and wishes to review it - you are most welcome. In the meantime - to correct some misplaced facts about what happened on the set and who was at fault for the unfortunate animals that died - have a read and you can read further (the full review - not the emotive ones) at the American Humane website......

"American Humane has rated this film "Monitored: Unacceptable" due to the numerous deaths of young animals and the unlawful and fraudulent behavior that we believe impacted their fate. Although the producers may have been victims of unscrupulous people in their hire, American Humane, as an animal protection organization and the animals' safety representative, finds the outcomes for these animals unacceptable.

American Humane would like to acknowledge that the production cooperated in every way with the Animal Safety Representative's recommendations, and once the unhealthy puppies were removed from the set to receive veterinary care, healthy puppies were then brought in -- using proper procedures and following all guidelines regarding age limits, vaccinations, illness prevention methods and other safety protocol -- to ensure that healthy puppies were ultimately used during filming."

1 out of 5 stars 6 week pups   September 24, 2008

I was going to buy the Snow buddies dvd but after reading the first review I checked the story. I read the pups were only 6 weeks old before being taken from their mother 2 died and some other pups contracted parvo. So this film certainly will not be in my grandson's christmas stocking.Snow Buddies [2008]

1 out of 5 stars Dead Puppies not Family enterrtainment   February 27, 2008

My attention was draw to the film by a review on the American version. The American Humaine Society had to "rescue" 30 very sick puppies from the film set. Five have since died. Facts from American Humane Society Website.

This is not family entertainment - shame on Disney.
