Amazon.co.uk Review Pixar genius reigns in this funny romantic comedy, which stars a robot who says absolutely nothing for a full 25 minutes yet somehow completely transfixes and endears himself to the audience within the first few minutes of the film. As the last robot left on earth, Wall-E (voiced by Ben Burtt) is one small robot--with a big, big heart--who holds the future of Earth and mankind squarely in the palm of his metal hand. He's outlasted all the "Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class" robots that were assigned some 700 years ago to clean up the environmental mess that man made of earth while man vacationed aboard the luxury spaceship Axiom. Wall-E has dutifully gone about his job compacting trash, the extreme solitude broken only by his pet cockroach, but he's developed some oddly human habits and ideas. When the Axiom sends its regularly scheduled robotic EVE probe (Elissa Knight) to earth, Wall-E is instantly smitten and proceeds to try to impress EVE with his collection of human memorabilia. EVE's directive compels her to bring Wall-E's newly collected plant sprout to the captain of the Axiom and Wall-E follows in hot pursuit. Suddenly, the human world is turned upside down and the Captain (Jeff Garlin) joins forces with Wall-E and a cast of other misfit robots to lead the now lethargic people back home to earth. Wall-E is a great family film with the most impressive aspect being the depth of emotion conveyed by a simple robot--a machine typically considered devoid of emotion, but made so absolutely touching by the magic of Pixar animation. Also well-worth admiring are the sweeping views from space, the creative yet disturbing vision of what strange luxuries a future space vacation might offer, and the innovative use of trash in a future cityscape. Underneath the slapstick comedy and touching love story is a poignant message about the folly of human greed and its potential effects on earth and the entire human race. --Tami Horiuchi, Amazon.com

Want the latest HDTV? Here's how to get it for a fiver December 1, 2008 Samantha 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Christmas is coming so save your cash! Why purchase something you can get for a fiver. Go to GetYoursFree.co.cc and sign up. Complete ONE offer - I would recommend Gala Bingo (you know, the one Sharon Osborne advertises for on tv),as this is cheap and fun (and you might win some money in the process!) If you really don't want to spend, there is a free Lovefilm trial. All companies are well known so there is no risk involved- give it a go! I got my Breadmaker and many other things this way, so don't miss out. I was a sceptic once but now I am SO glad I gave it a chance. B8C approved this system on their Newsnight programme a while back. Many items to choose from and they send your gift Free of charge.
40 minutes of pure poetry November 30, 2008 S. Fagerland (Oslo, Norway) This is a brilliant film as a whole. But I'll remember the first 40 minutes the most. The first part, with almost no dialogue, is as close as I have ever come to pure perfected poetry on film. In the darkness of the cinema I watched pictures that were not sad, but I still felt like crying. For the beauty. It's like a dance of intertwined emotions - when it's sad, it's funny; when it's fearsome, it's graceful; when it's robotic, it's human. The lack of dialogue enhances the experience. A masterpiece.
Simply heaven November 30, 2008 Paul Everdark (UK) Oh, Pixar. Why did you do it? You could've just served up another sugary-sweet film to please us, and he would've been very happy. Instead, you gave us Wall-E. "Wall-E" isn't drenched in Sunny-Delight hyperactive action, riddled with pop culture references, and it isn't a warm, fuzzy romp. In fact, you're not going to meet anything warm and fuzzy in this film, as Earth is dead, the last humans are gone, and Earth is left under a mass of skyscraper waste, mostly from the BnL megacorporation, who have grown so big that their president is the ACTUAL president. "Wall-E" is darker, more cynical and slightly disturbing than any Disney film I've seen, and I loved it for it. Finally, a film which trusts viewers to think for themselves, that they can handle a film without speech for the opening 30 minutes, and perceive the messages, rather than beating them into submission with 'fun and laffs'. As polluted as Earth was, the film was a breath of fresh air in that respect. Wall-E himself is a sheer creation a genius: a lovechild of R2-D2 and Charlie Chaplin. He may be a trash compactor with eyes, but I've never seen anything so expressive. His blips and bloops round off his personality perfectly, so really feel for him and everything he does: you share his awe as he soars through space, as he tries to win over Eve, and in the end...well, I have no shame to say I was in tears. By looking at it's parts, the film shouldn't work: a rubbish-shovelling robot trying falling for an apple Mac by using clips from 'Hello Dolly!', as they try to help the over-indulged humans back home. But, like Wall-E himself, it's so much more than the sum of it's parts. "Wall-E" deserves to be a milestone film, a film to be remembered long after cheap disposable blockbusters have faded away. If you've seen this already, you don't need me to tell you that. If you haven't seen it yet, and you're on the fence: please watch it.

I love this movie and wait a long time for dvd. But when I saw the package in HMV....it is rubbish. This is the movie we loved! Not take away chips! Really sucks! I would never buy it unless they release a new version with regular dvd box.
Mogadon on screen November 28, 2008 Big Harry (Kent, England) 0 out of 8 found this review helpful
To be fair my 6 year old loved it (hence 2 stars) but I lost interest about 10 minutes into this. Little plot, less dialogue. I had to ask him what happened. I can think of far better things for a 6 year old to do like, well anything really.
