There has been many nail bitting finals at wimbledon. But for myself it was the greatests finals ever played on the now developing centre court.Leading commentators also decisbe it as one of the greatest. Roger Federer came in to the final with a 65 match winning streak. He was now heading for the submit and aiming for a sixth titel. His last defeat at the All England club came in 2002 to M Antcic in the First Round. He also famously defeated the Mighty Sampras in the 4 th Round in 2001.However every champion has a nemisis. Rafa Nadal started strongly taking the break of serve which he ran away with to clich the first set.In the second set Federer broke early and had a 4-1 lead however Nadal did his typical trade mark and won 6 games in a row to lead by two sets to love.At this point Federer looked prickly. In third set Federer saved two break points before the first rain delay. In part two Federer took the third set on a tie beack. The Fourth Set also went to a tie break and Nadal looked in dominatating form.Towards its conclueson we witness two of the best passing shots ever seen court.Nadal curled a ball down the tram lines to set up championship points. At this point Nadal was now serving for his first wimbledon titel. However great champions die hard.Federer came up with another joker to save his crown. With a nervous Nadal Federer forced a mini break for a set point. Nadal sent the ball out of court to hand Federer the Fourth Set. In the Fifth set Federer was serving first which gave him advantage.Nadal stayed postive and kept the matching going. There was also a second rain delay for 45 minutes. At 5-4 Federer had a break point on the Nadal serve which could have seen him serving for his sixth wimbledon crown. However Nadal save the break point to keep the match on level terms.Nadal also had break points on Federers serve but he always had an answer. Finally at 7-7 Nadel broke Federer and was now serving for the Match.Flash photography at one point in final game made Federer slighly angery. But a miss hit made him more angery as he was now facing another match point. But once again the five time champion said no. Nadel served a big first serve to set up championship point number four.Nadel served once again and the crowards saw another two great ground stokes.Federer came into the net for a cross volley but netted the ball to hand victory to Nadal who fell to ground in triumph.Roger Federers Five year reign was now over and the All England Club hailed a New King.Rafal Nadal. The Dvd also features Roger Federer and Rafal Nadel reading Ruyard Kiplings famous poem "If" written in 1910. It also features an interview with Nadal who dicribes his victory as "very speical".The Match was commantated by Andrew Castle and Tim Henamn. I would recomend this Dvd to any wimbledon spectators.

5 out of 5 stars The Final to end all finals...   August 28, 2008

Easily the best men's final of all time and the moment when the chink in Federer's armour exposed by Rafa in the French Open was ripped wide open for all the world to see. I love the game but can never remember being more invested in a match than this one. Occupying practically half a day I realised I was far too into it when I started to get chest pains as it was so unbelievably tense - Heart Attack brought on by Telly Tennis: Surely a world first?!?

The King is Dead. Long Live the King

Women players - THIS is why you did not, do not and should never have gotten equal prize money! Compare and contrast this epic with the woeful Williams' "Which sister will win?" final the day before. Who cares?

A shame the BBC's coverage was marred by some spectacularly abysmal commentary. Why do they keep giving Andrew Castle work? And a word on Tim Henman's style - For God's Sake - Say Something!!! I don't care how much dosh Johnny Mac wants to be lured away from CBS - PAY HIM!

5 out of 5 stars i still get the chills watching it and get tense as match goes on!!   August 27, 2008

Probably the greatest Wimbledon Final ever, maybe the greatest match ever. Relive this titanic contest in which Rafa, soon after winning the French and at the peak of his form, eventually prevailed after 5 dramatic and gruellingly long sets to win his first Wimbledon Men's title and virtually ensure that he would soon overtake Rog to become the World's number one ranked player.
