A fantastic gig! November 21, 2008 Lilith (UK) It's great to have a DVD of a gig one has actually been to. I went to the Friday show, which of course didn't feature Jimmy Page, but it was still a great night. The atmostphere was amazing, which is captured quite well by the filming and the gig was definately a highlight of 2008 for me! A must for any Foo Fighters fan!
The best night of my life?...probably!! November 10, 2008 Lp Towsey-hinton (reading,uk) I will write this review before viewing the DVD (santa will be buying me this!!), as it was by far the best gig that I have been to this year!!! (and I've seen Radiohead, Madonna, The Kaisers, Korn...just to name a few) And I was only there on the Friday so wasn't there to witness Led Zep's input...can't wait to see that one!! It was one of the best nights I have ever had the atmosphere was amazing and certainly the highlight of my summer (especially as I didn't make any of the festivals!!) I even adopted a friend for the evening who although well and truely under the influence of alcohol seemed to be having a great time!! Thank you very much to the Foo's and I hope it won't be too long until you are back at Wembley again!
Buy it September 22, 2008 William Tomlin If you're a rock fan, buy it. I was there that night so this was a must buy for me but Dave Grohl put it best and I quote "welcome to the best f*****g night of my whole entire life". He's a big time Zep fan and seeing him back on drums with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones playing like it's 1977 again is worth the asking price alone. This is one for those Saturday nights when you've been out and had a few beers, get home and want to carry on partying; stick it on, turn it up and dream of Madison Square Garden in the 70s. Simply awesome.
A must for Foo fans September 5, 2008 Paula (Worcester) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was there on the 7th.. This dvd is a must for all Foo Fighters fans even if you couldn't make it, the dvd will make you feel as though you were there!
'Welcome to the greatest night of my entire life...' September 3, 2008 Dafydd Jones (Aberystwyth, Ceredigion United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I genuinely think that Dave Grohl meant that when he mustered those words in disbelief. Where do I start? This concert was filmed live on location at Wembley Stadium, at the beginning of June earlier this year. I was lucky enough to find tickets for the Saturday show, and I knew it was going to be one of the best live shows I have ever seen. I stand by that statement. I have been fortunate enough to see the Stereophonics in Llandudno (which was a massive coup for Venue Cymru), and Iron Maiden and Trivium in Manchester, and although Maiden were outstanding, I felt more alive and captivated by this show, even if I was three tiers up and Dave Grohl was the proverbial ant. Here, I can re-live the concert again (or certainly parts of it), and the only downside is that I wanted more songs on the DVD - 'Come Alive' was outstanding, and there could easily have been more additions. But Taylor Hawkins's drum solo, and Dave Grohl and Chris Shiflett's guitar duel in 'Stacked Actors' were fantastic...and then... ...you had Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. What an honour it was to share the company of these absolute legends. Dave got behind the drums for 'Rock and Roll' and Taylor did the vocals (and was startlingly like Robert Plant) - brilliant. Dave then did the vocals for 'Ramble On' while Taylor got back on the drums. An unforgettable night indeed. Please buy the DVD, even if you weren't a part of it. 10/10 - Outstanding, absolutely brilliant.
