Amazon.co.uk Review Breaking up is hard to do--but that doesn't mean you can't have some belly laughs about it. Forgetting Sarah Marshall provides that rare treat: a romantic comedy about breakups, that is both romantic and funny. The laughs, especially from writer-star Jason Segel, are both heartfelt and raunchy, and the film is just unexpected enough that it keeps the viewer's attention till the end. The touches of producer Judd Apatow, who's famously retooled rom-coms to appeal to guys as much as women, are woven throughout the film, but Segel's script, reportedly based on many of his own experiences, is fresh and original. And adult. Forgetting Sarah Marshall features male genitalia laffs presented in unexpected and human ways (the nude breakup scene is played for giggles but also deep poignancy), and the language and sex scenes are strictly for grownups--and rightly so. Segel's script, and his performance as Peter, show that he understands the true nature of adult relationships, which provides the refreshing difference between this film and some of Apatow's other crude creations. The cast is sublime; Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) plays title character Sarah, a self-absorbed actress, and Russell Brand is her new British honey who accompanies her to--what are the chances?--the exact same Hawaiian resort as Peter, who's nursing his broken heart. Mila Kunis plays Rachel, the resort employee who gives Peter a reason to hope, and Paul Rudd is the surfing instructor who gives him his own brand of heartfelt advice ("When life gives you lemons, just say 'F--- the lemons' and bail," he says cheerily). The pacing is screwball, and the absurdities fly (a "Dracula" musical puppet show, and a surprisingly lovely Hawaiian version of "Nothing Compares 2 U"). Nothing the viewer will forget any time soon.--A.T. Hurley

Quite forgettable. January 5, 2009 Guitar Heroine (Liverpool, England.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As another reviewer has said, this is a welcome addition to the world of film as a male feel-good film, although as a female, I quite liked it too. I found the storyline rather generic, boring and predictable and it was rather easy to lose focus/let my attention wander elsewhere. I was quite impressed and amused by Russell Brand's cameo, which I think was probably the highlight of the film; I think his acting was the best, followed by Seth Rogan. Other than Russell Brand, I don't feel anyone's preformance really shone. This is a good film to see...ONCE, but I don't think I'll watch it more than that.
Good but not brilliant December 30, 2008 Indeed (London, UK) Yes, definitely worth watching and Brand is better than you would think - no actor though as he basically plays himself. I enjoyed the film.
I suppose it just entertainment December 30, 2008 P. DATTA (Stockton on Tees, Teesside) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The movie is really just entertainment to have a good laugh at. Forgetting Sarah Marshall contents are silly and offensive at times. Well what it about. It is about twenty-somethings romance. The main characters include musician Joe and actress Sarah Marshall who have been in a 5 year relationship, but one day Sarah announces she wants to end the relationship. Joe is devasted by the news and it takes time for the news to sink. How does he cope with this? He ends up in Hawalli meeting the new flame played by the Russell Brand. How does he react to this? Without giving spoilers, you watch the funny side of how Joe deals with the problem. Forgetting Sarah Marshall is categorised as a feel good movie, which is really to have a good laugh at, even though it is pointless and absurd at times.
Forgetting sarah marshall December 24, 2008 Mr. S. Rayner (England) Very good film. funny throughout and brand acts well. its not a classic but well worth a watch. segal is the best and despite the pointless nudity on his part is interesting to watch. better than superbad and other comedies of that genre as there is no cringiness in it
Boring and for a comedy not that funny! November 26, 2008 britsurfer1 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this DVD because I was a fan of the lead actor in a sitcom and thought it would be fun. The story line was pretty weak and didn't build. It was very long and at numerous points i nearly gave up watching it. I didn't find the film that funny and although i don't like Russel Brand he was actually the best thing in the movie. The lead actor was quite irritating and for no reason ended up naked a lot of the time! In my opinion this is a poor film with no story and poor attempts at humour. This film belongs in the bargain bucket!
