Very disappointing November 19, 2008 Mr. Ian S. Munro (Herts., UK) From other reviews this product looked great and would give me DAB radio in the car. The reality was sadly disappointing. Since receiving the radio in July two of them have failed. When they have worked they've generally been fiddly to use and seem to lose the DAB station easily. On a long journey i've found it necessary to change the FM frquency as local station overpower the DAB. All in all a real shame as I like Pure DAB radios and have been pleased with the domestic models we have purchased.
Unimpressed... November 14, 2008 Nathanial Grumphutock (Pudsey, UK) Must have had this DAB in car radio about a year now so I reckon I am in a good position to provide an objective review so here it is. As other reviewers have pointed out the aerial is sub-standard, you are forever loosing signal strength (I tried re-tuning as instructed but has no effect)which is really frustrating. Changing stations on the move is awkward especially if you store more than 4 stations. The set up is relatively easy but you end up with intrusive wires trailing everywhere. The arm that holds the radio to the windscreen is also poor quality constantly wobbling until mine actually broke off today!! (where the arm attaches to the sucker) obviously a weak point unless mine was faulty. Whatever I Won't be repairing it as I had pracically stopped using it due to the combined faults already mentioned. Not surprisingly my conclusion is this is a poor product, a waste of money unsuitable for purpose, which came as a real shock to me as i have a Pure Evoke DAB radio at home which is a superb piece of kit.
Good product let down by poor internal areial November 12, 2008 Martin Walker 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the Pure Highway having had a DAB radio in my previous car (a first generation Blaupunkt unit with external aerial). There were almost no places in the South East where I lost the DAB signal. It was quick and easy to set up although I did not use the FM transmission option as my radio has an aux input. The Pure unit, with internal aerial, constantly dropped out - sometimes only for a second or two. Very frustrating! You could see the signal strength meter jumping up and down all the time. I had expected better. Apart from that, the unit was fine - although more pre-sets would have been nice.
Planet Rock in the car at last! November 6, 2008 L. Summerscales 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We bought this six months ago as my husband couldn't face an upcoming long trip without Planet Rock. In a nutshell, it was quite easy to set up and very clever little gadget. You tune the gadget into your existing radio, and once you've got it tuned, you give it a preset number so you can find it easily. Other reviewers mention a reception problem - we've had this on certain roads but have always managed to retune so not a problem. Also, maybe the gadget shares frequency with a couple of local radio stations hence the reception problem sometimes? (just a guess, I'm no expert) It plugs into the cigarette charger and there's a very bright red bulb that glows - we've stuck something over it as it's too bright at night time! We only use it for Planet Rock - apparently there are lots of radio stations though :o)
i'nt technolgy fantastic October 20, 2008 Al (wiltshire) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Long time digital radio fan - particualarly 6 music - one of the banes of my life was being unable to listen in the car. Enter one of the best birthday presents I have been given. Agree with most of the below - the good and the bad. The wires are a bit messy. And the first time i drove off the signal disappeared almost instantly but since then no problems at all and for even long journeys have not had to retune. Saturday mornings are no longer confined to the house so I can listen to Adam and Joe in its entirety. Big downside is the permanence of the aerial prohibiting moving from car to car but may well invest in second aerial. Definitely recommend.
