Throwing money down the drain! November 22, 2008 Eric Blair (England) I bought this product back in August. It seemed ideal for me; lots of storage capacity and nice and small. 3 months later and it looks like one of the worst purchases I have made for my computer. For reasons unknown the entire contents, including the operating software have gone, and I can no longer use it. Luckily I have backed up most of my stuff. But to add insult to injury, I have tried to seek advice and assistance from the manufacturer via the customer service part of their webiste. They appear to be based in USA and I would have to pay to call, which I am loathe to do. So I have emailed 3 times over two weeks. They have deigned to reply once and only then to send me the link to the website (where did they think I got their email address from?). I would steer well clear - a shoddy product and poor customer service from the manufacturer.
Small, cool, quiet and fast November 15, 2008 Tylernator (East Sussex, UK) The best of a variety of external HDD's I've used. I store VMware images on mine, and my virtual machines run great even though they're on a USB drive. With the compact size, and the fact that it is cool and quiet I highly recommend.
Plug and play?? November 12, 2008 D. R. Davies (London) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
It plugged in - but that was it. Little blue light and a clicking noise. No docs with unit. No help from manufacturer. Am returning to Amazon with a view to purchasing product from another manufacturer - can anyone suggest a reliable back up drive?
most helpful storage device yet.. November 8, 2008 Mr. N. Hutchinson (Southampton, England) Just so easy to use. Plug in, set up and start using. I can take all my photos and music wherever and with the WD sync software, all my work too. No annoying plug in leads. Great buy.
Compatible with macs November 4, 2008 A. Macleod 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this WD passport to back up all my files from my imac. Works perfectly, plugged it in and within half an hour all my files were backed up and i didn't have to do a thing! Macs with leopard have a program called time machine and this back-ups your files every hour by itself. Trust me Its idiot-proof!
