Nice to use excellent sound January 8, 2009 pcpixie This is a no worries purchase, old firmware bugs are sorted out. Easy to use great sound syncs to windows media player 11. If you would prefer the expansion card to integrate with the internal memory join me and contact creative and ask them to update the firmware. Just go through the support part of their website and ask them nicely. I reckon they are waiting for enough people to ask before dedicating staff to the job. If like me you were comparing this product to the sansa view, be warned many have given up on the sansa views poor firmware returned it and bought the Zen.
No nonsense review of this mp3 player January 8, 2009 Simon Mullin (Liverpool) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Some people are whinging about the lack of integration of the sd card into the device. But I keep all my music on the device and my films etc on the sd card. This doesn't cause me any issues and if 7+gb isn't enough for you then you really shouldn't carry all your music about with you. I know everyone likes choice but come on, are you really going to listen to 300/400/500 albums in one go ? Just take what you need, even if its 100 albums you will have ample space left. To get back to the device, the screen is clear and the sound is good, not quite as loud as the ipod but with half decent headphones you won't need it at anywhere near full volume, I think mine stays at 18 out of the possible 25. Battery life is excellent and the software it comes with is very simple to use. Zencast (podcasts to you and me) are also good. I also purchased a 16Gb Kingston SDHC card and this works a treat. So for less than 100 quid I got a 24gb mp3/avi player and I dare anyone to complain about that. Thats what you call value for money. Hope this helped you get a better understanding of this great little mp3 player.
Love Mine!! January 7, 2009 Jojo (South West, UK) After much Mp3/4 player research, I found this one and thought it wold be a great upgrade from my iPod. I've had my iPod for about 4 years and the battery life has always been pretty awful, and for the money I paid for it, I though I could probably get a better for alot less money, and I did. I've only had it a few days, but I don't have much to complain about. I got an amazing deal on here, and think it's a pretty nifty little player. The software has everything you need to load your player up with all your favourite music and videos etc. It also has an organizer feature, which has a calendar, contacts and tasks area. The radio is pretty good, picks up all the local stations. I doubt I'd ever use the microphone feature, but the quality of the recordings are impressive. I love that you can customize your Zen and use your own pictures as wallpaper. I would have given 5 stars if the headphones were better and it came with a sleave or something to put it like the iPods. It is a very sleek and shiny player, and I personally, hate the idea of it getting scratched. The headphones it comes with are ok, but I prefer my JVC gumy headphones, the sound is amazing! Over all, for the price, I am sutibley impressed.
Do not purchase creative if you use a mac January 7, 2009 M. Ridha Creative is a great brand - better than ipod ranges. They are less advertised / popular than ipods, but are as advanced as / if not more advanced than ipods. They are light weight, long lasting (my ipod just died after 2years -no help offered from ipod to fix it), and easy to use. BUT -DO NOT BUY A CREATIVE ZEN OF ANY KIND IF YOU USE A MAC! They are behind in this because they haven't developed any software for MAC!!!!! I know this is crazy - but for some reason they don't know that a mac has been invented! there is an independent download you can find to get basic software to load songs to your zen - but it is toooo basic - cant organize files, and can't load videos/pics/calendar syncs to your mp3. DON'T BUY A CREATIVE ZEN IF YOU USE MAC!!
I Love my ZEN!!!!! December 30, 2008 A. Walmsley (UK) Well what can I tell you? Excellent Value for money! Very intuitive menu and operation! Excellent interface with programmes such as Windows Media Player! With it's 8GB memory I have ample space for all of my favourite albums and photos! I was going to by an ipod nano but the Zen is an extremely good alternative! I have managed to buy the player, a lovely case and several mp3's all for less than a Nano on it's own without all of the little luxuries I wanted to go with it! The one thing people have mentioned is the cable supplied in the box is very very short. This is true but it is a very standard cable to probably already have with your camera or something similar. I would recommend this to anyone! A great buy!
