Very good "little" camera! maybe a bit too small. December 25, 2008 Mr. Long H. Lam (Hounslow) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a very small camera. smaller even then the Fuji A-series. which now looks bulky in comparison... It looks lovely as others have already commented on, but i find it is a little too small. the front is quite flat so it's hard to get a grasp using one handed shooting. there is also nothing to grip onto properly on the back. It's quite simple to use and there is a distinct lack of buttons or dials, you have to use the menu system. the menu is easy to use and logically arranged. there are lots of preset modes, but there is also a manual mode which is a good addition if you want to have more control over the image quality. The base ISO is 64 and using this means very sharp pictures, light permitting. the IQ is actually pretty good for a camera with a smaller sensor than the previous A-series. while this doesn't instantly show itself, it does so at ISO 400 and above. though at ISO 400, it is still quite sharp for a compact, better than most other manufacturers, it is not as good as the Fuji A920 for example. the A920 has a larger sensor meaning that it can control noise better and it shows. there is more noise reduction on the J10 at ISO400+ that show as speckles compared to the A920, but you have to be quite close to notice. overall, a very good camera. but a little too small to use comfortably and image quality, while very good, is not as good as previous Fuji cameras. only uses a proprietary Li-Ion battery which is a more expensive option than AAs, but does mean it lasts longer and recharges better. Well recommended.
Simple and good December 5, 2008 Patrick__W 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
This is a very reasonable camera. The specification is impressive and the price is even better. The camera copes well generally allround and is incredibly simple to use. The interface is very simple and self explanatory. The back screen is LCD at 2.5 inches and produces a fantastic picture and true to life photo. The camera looks very slick and is nothing complicated.
Neat, stylish, good quality November 1, 2008 M.A.G. (France) 62 out of 63 found this review helpful
My sister-in-law had one when she visited in the summer. It was easy to use and download simple. Then a good friend who is a keen photographer said what a neat, high resolution product it was and I was sold. Bought one. We love using it.
Perfect little Camera September 17, 2008 Mr. J. John (Cardiff, Uk.) 97 out of 97 found this review helpful
I bought this as a replacement for the Sony-WD130 which I lost - and its grown on me very quickly! I picked it out because its ultra light (about 3oz), fits in to pocket like a wallet and has no protruding edges or dails... perfect for a night out! Compared to my previous cameras - I think fujifilm have done a great job in keeping it streamlined and not over complicating it - Dont be put off by the absence of the flash bulky dials because its all been built in to the easy to the user friendly screen menu and has a wealth of options - I think this is the way most digi cameras will go... dont be put off by the low price - it really is a perfect compact little camera with mighty power and will probally be a huge seller..
Fantastic August 25, 2008 Sam 184 out of 185 found this review helpful
I brought this camera as a replacement for a Samsung S1065, which immediately froze multiple times whenever i tried to use it, plus the batteries ran out in 1/2 hour usage. Anyway, The Fujifilm Finepix J10 is a very aesthetically pleasing camera with a brushed aluminium front (black or silver) and aluminium back. This camera certainly feels as if it can withstand some serious knocks. The form factor for this camera is certainly compact; this is enabled by the use of a Li-Ion rechargeable battery, rather than your standard AA Alkaline batteries. This charges fully in just over 1.4 hours and provides very reasonable battery life. The features on this camera are simple and necessary; there is no facial recognition or 9 point automatic focus. But what it does do, it does fantastically well. I have a Canon EOS10D Digital SLR camera for professional work, brought this fuji for the odd point and shoot session. The built in scenes work incredibly well, and do exactly what they are supposed to. The 8 MegaPixel Sensor inside this camera produces large photos that will easily print out up to A4 photographs and the single point Auto focus is very good at making your subject nice and sharp. Fujifilm are renowned for producing cameras that capture vivid colours and the J10 is no exception, the colours are vivid and stand out (whilst not being overpowering). The flash copes well in both day and night situations. The menu system for this camera, some say, is too simple and not intuitive. I disagree with this view; I find the minimalistic menu and navigation buttons easy to use, and a refreshing change from a complex DSLR camera. The J10 is an awesome camera for any beginner, or (like me) someone who wants a good quality point and shoot camera for the odd days out. Connectivity to XP and Vista was simple, no drivers, no software, just plug in the provided USB cable and access the camera as an external disk. The only negative point about this camera is the animation it shows when deleting images; it deletes the image in blocks, each block revealing a blue background. So the deleted image seems to break up and fade away. There is no option to stop this animation, possibly room for improvement in a future firmware upgrade. However this single negative point can easily be overcome, by purchasing a larger memory card and not deleting photos until you get home and load them onto your computer. All in all, the Finepix J10 by Fujifilm is a highly recommended camera with no unnecessary bells and whistles but the ability to produce a fantastically sharp, and vivid photo with ease, in a true point and shoot style.
