5 out of 5 stars Truly exceptional   November 28, 2008
G. Vaughan
I really don't have a lot more to add about this game that hasn't been said already, but after two people gave it 1/5 I felt I had to help redress the balance!

It's brilliant. End of. The kind of game that makes you remember how happy you were when you first got a console, that brings a smile to your face before you've realised it, and shivers up your back every time you achieve something.

Buy it.

4 out of 5 stars Beautiful!   November 26, 2008
Ms. R. Graham (Newcastle)
This game is simply gorgeous and is a must for anyone one with a Wii. The control system is slightly dodgy, however it is still one of the best things about it. I can understand why it was a great game on the PS2 but it is so much better with the Wii's capabilities. Again the overall look of the game is incredible - stylised and pretty. I especially love the trails of flowers behind Amiterasu (or however you spell it) as he runs, the small lily pads as he swims or the autumnal leaves as he jumps - a joy to behold. The story and scenery has depth and is value for money as it is a long yet engaging game. But why does it get 4 stars and not 5? As a woman of 22 and not a 12 year old boy I felt the depictions of the women in the game highly disrespectful and annoying, not amusing (as a 12 year old boy probably would) This was magnified as one character made constant reference to the women's 'assets'. Now I realise I've probably made some people (12 year old boys) want the game more but it really did make me enjoy the game less!!

5 out of 5 stars An excellent game - worth buying the Wii for!   November 20, 2008
Thomas Alexander (Milton Keynes, UK)
I bought this game earlier in the year, and I have to say it is one of the best games I have ever owned.

Firstly, the graphics. I was at first a little skeptical about the style, but as I played, I could see why it was chosen - it works perfectly. The visuals throughout are stunning.

The controls take a little getting used to at first, but they soon become habit. I was surprised to read some reviews saying it is impossible to get some moves to work consistently. After a little while of playing, I found that they depended as much on the orientation (including twist) of the remote as on the way it was moved. Once mastered, the system of painting onto the screen for some actions is quite intuitive, and makes this game unique.

The story is also very involving once it gets moving, although slightly slow to start, and with plenty of side-quests and a well-humored script. Also worth noting, the game is HUGE - loads of playing time.

If Okami was the only Wii game around, it would be worth buying the console for.

1 out of 5 stars play it on the PS2   November 4, 2008

I was really excited to find out okami was coming out on the wii but having played it i wish i hadn't spent the money.

sorry if i come across as an "idiot" however having playing the PS2 version and buying this version i can honestly say it is a waste of money, the controls are unresponsive on things such as the power slash - this move is done by drawing a straight line easy huh? well appaently not, any slight wabble - it doesn't work, 2 hours into the game the susano style susano move is actually near impossible since horrzonal lines sometimes dont even slash the item being aimed for. - we actually found it worked more if every horrizontal line was done diagonally and went from from 1 side of the screen to the other where as on the ps2 you just drew the line across your target and it didn't have to be all that straight- (hope this helps other people with this issue)

This is a really charming game, but as a gamer who has played many games on almost every platform i find this remake for this console so disapointing.

The only thing that is better is the running controls, the numchuck controls are far better than the PS2 analog and the graphics are a little better but if you can't perform some essential moves properly there is no point, the controls are too picky about what it will and wont accept.
