Product Description The easy way to play home brew games and applications on your unmodified PSP. This special TOOL version of the PSP rechargeable battery works in exactly the same way as a standard Sony PSP battery, but has the ability to put your PSP into Service Mode. This is a facility made available exclusivey to programmers and developers, allowing them to run software from a memory stick instead of the UMD - a vital means of testing the game you're developing on the PSP without having to get Sony to cut a disc for you.

Won't work on PSP-3000 December 20, 2008 The Phiine shop (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This will not work on PSP-3000 consoles as Sony has made these un-hackable. The same goes for the latest PSP-2000 made after mid-2008. It works great on older PSP-2000 models though, which came with firmware 3.95 or below from the factory. The other reviewers are correct, additional software is needed to use this item to the full. I have uploaded an additional product image which is of the official Datel instructions. As you can see, they state that additional software is required but give no hints as to where to find it. Please feel free to contact me if you need any help finding the software to make your memory stick into a 'magic' memory stick to use with this item.
Fantastic tool if it worked.. November 22, 2008 Tony Munchtuna (UK) Now i wish i could share the same enthusiasm as other users have had with this product yet im growing very frustrated with this battery, and was wondering if anyone else is having the same problems as me, as it doesnt seem to matter what i do i just cant seem to get this battery to charge up, im fully aware what steps to take when charging thi battery.. 1. Take out the Battery of the PSP. 2. Insert the Wall Plug and turn on your PSP. 3. Wait until the PSP loads the XMB menu and then insert the 'Magic' battery. 4. The battery light should turn Orange to indicate that the battery is charging. 5. Turn off your PSP by holding the power button for 4 seconds. 6. Make sure the power light is still orange after the power is off. 7. Once the Recharge has finished (Power light turns off) you can remove the 'Magic' battery from the PSP. ive tried this but im still getting no joy, the reason ive awarded this batery 5stars is because ive used a datel tool battery before when mod the psp fat, but now that i own a slim im having problems with the datel tool battery slim. has anyone else had this problem? (review update) guys if you own a datel tool battery for the fat then it works for the slim i know this because ive done it and succeded. datel leave no such details, this battery was useless for me it doesnt work, ive been told it could be something to do with the serial of the battery which still doesnt help as ive jst wasted 12quid on this battery,if anyone can access the datel tool bat for the fat then it works for the slim, you just have to hold it into place either by hand or aided with some elastic bands. dont waste your money on this battery if you can borrow a friends bat for the fat. ps: those who have no idea how to use this battery then utube offer fanastic tutorials with step by step instructions they show you how to downgrade then how to upgrade.. check out wiimasterds guide and also angelmikey. theseguys will guide you through it all, just letting those know who want to know.
Perfect.. Just Perfect! August 29, 2008 M. ALMUSALLAM This is one of the most useful tools needed for PSP. It does what it should do as described. It will give you the ability to install customs in your PSP without making any damages with your PSP regular battery. It can not be used as a power source for the PSP, but only to boot the PSP in the setup mode (requires knowledge of creating a "magic memory stick" where the custom firmware is installed in the memory - try search on the net for this part). I used it for my both PSP Slims system and both are working perfectly. I really recommend this product for all PSP users.
Perfect for Purpose August 6, 2008 Nirmal (UK) This is a perfect TOOL and does what it claims.. fit for all who want to get to PSP homebrew without the hassles of handmodding their batteries or having a custom phat PSP. Remember, you will need to charge it first in your PSP (charging process described in the product pamphlet shipped alongwith) when you take it out of the box and then with a magic memory stick you can boot your SLIM PSP into service mode to do the wonderful things you want to.. Added vote for the flashy red color :) And if you need to know, of course you can NOT use this as a normal battery for your PSP.
It works! July 24, 2008 D. Ward This battery saves you a little time and money in making your own pandora's battery. You will also need a 4GB or less pro duo magic memory stick. Download your software for the memory stick install and away you go. The whole process takes about 10 mins but once its done you will have the best handheld on the market! I was going to go for the GP2X F200 console until i did this. If you are a little unsure search the web for tutorials and youtube for a video guide. Cheap and easy ;-)
