A good introduction to Danish April 11, 2005 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I enjoyed using this software and was amazed at how quickly I picked and remembered the Danish words and expressions. Additional software is not required, as the CD runs straight out of the package. As an effective introduction to Danish, I highly recommended this product. There is, of course, room for improvement, which could be made to future editions. There are no days of the week, or months of the year. The number section teaches numbers 1 to 20, but no higher. Shame really, as your score on the quiz is read to you, and can be anything up to 50.
Encouraging and fun way to learn September 28, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have encounted no problem using this software and needed no additional downloads. To be able to hear the words and phrases, and to record your own voice to be able to compare and contrast is the next best method of learning. The better way is having a Danish friend listen and encourage you. The method of learning is suited to those of us who have little time to go to a night class, and who want to learn at their own pace and not feel forced to keep up with the rest of the class. If learning a new language is all about being confident, then this is the product to help you get started.

Unadvertised, but this package requires additional software marketted by Ligos. Without it the product is not able to function. This should be made clear in the advertising information. I have approached this company for resolution and will naturally update my review if satisfaction is found.
A great way to begin to learn a language. May 2, 2003 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Though I was sadly disapointed with the minimal content of this software I was amased at how easy it was to pick up and remember the words and phrases. I heartily recomend this for anyone whishing to make a start in learning Danish without makeing it feel like a chore! Contents include... numbers 1-20, telling the time, colours, simple phrases, food, shopping items, parts of the body and flags.
Put your language books away and try this for starters! November 26, 2000 egpjtran@livjm.ac.uk (Merseyside, UK) 34 out of 35 found this review helpful
Why bother - all Danes can speak excellent English can't they? Well, a lot of them can but as in any country making the effort to speak the language undoubtedly helps!I found this a very good way to start learning a tricky language. Learning from a book is one thing but this livens up your learning and makes it fun rather than a chore. Lots of colour pictures accompany the words and, vitally, one click lets you hear how to pronounce each item - believe me the words aren't pronounced the same way as you first read them! It's a good way to entertain and challenge yourself. Nine sections (such as first words, phrases, shopping, colours) are further subdivided into four categories; easy game, hard game, word practice and speaking practice (prepare to cringe after you have recorded yourself as you hear your efforts at trying to repeat Danish phrases!). There is also a separate 'gambling' section and, by playing games, you forget that you're actually learning a language but it is very effective. You certainly won't be fluent after fully utilising this CD-ROM but you will have a much better idea of the way forward. The only thing I felt slightly disappointed about was that there wasn't an intermediate level as well but maybe that's a sign of how much I was enjoying using it. It's a lot more fun than reading through a phrasebook and a good way to kickstart your learning.
