A load of rubbish- do not buy December 28, 2008 Mr. I. Thompson (England) I bought this webcan a week ago, installed it no problem, but the picture quality is awful. I used it replace a really cheap one that I'd had a couple of years so I thought I would upgrade. I wish that I had never bothered but I can hardly go to my girlfriend now and ask, "Can I have it back please." The picture is grainy and according to my g/f I look green. Do not waste your money.
Very poor for Microsoft product December 8, 2008 J. Brown (UK) I went for this camera as I run Windows XP 64-Bit and this was one of the makes that is compatible (not surprising really). Anyway got it home installed all fine but the image quality is aweful. Very grainy and random brightness fluctuations and blacking out. You can solve some of the problems by lowering the "USB Bandwidth" setting down to level 6. For some reason this makes the picture less gainy. Mics ok though. ;) Anyway bottom line is it was returned to Amazon today and I have replaced it with a Logitech one which is much much better. Listen to the reviews and don't make the mistake I did of believing this lives up to MS's usual high standard for hardware. Save some hassle and avoid this camera.
Lovely little webcam December 5, 2008 Usman Ali (Wishaw, Lanarkshire, Scotland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Very good webcam. Some advice though: 1) Download the lifecam software first from the microsoft website as the one you get with the cd is outdated. (google microsoft webcams if you cant find the site) 2) install the software first following the on screen prompts, it will tell you when you plug in your webcam. 3)When you first see your image on screen, the picture may be blurred/not in focus. Just rotate the lens until you get it to the focus you want. The effects you get with the software are a lot of fun, your friends will be like "whaat?" =] the picture however is very grainy, but what do you expect at this price. But overall, amazing webcam and software
Brilliant piece of equipment November 27, 2008 John H. Richards (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This item works well, sound and vision. I had it set up by my computer wiz kid, who was here for a printing problem, so perhaps the negative views shown by some people were because the item wasn't set up right. I have no hesitation in recommending it.
Cracking little thing! October 17, 2008 C. McGeary (Ayrshire) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a great little camera! The picture quality is brilliant for 1.3mp's too. I mostly use mine to communicate with my gf who is currently studying away from home. Her student accommodation is a little dark and murky but the cam automatically compensates for this and provides a good clear picture...we both use the same cam btw! Also, The built-in microphone allows for communication to be transferred flawlessly with hardly any time-delay between speech and video movement. There's also a manual focus dial which can be altered by turning the disc around the lens, very simple to use indeed! Also provided is lots of extra software features for you to explore and liven up the relatively dull chit chat normally experienced on live messenger! Descent clip to put it on the top of the laptop, seems quite sturdy. I read in previous reviews that this doesn't work on Vista, to those reviewers i would like to say that it isn't the camera that doesn't work on Vista...its YOU! I've never used the camera on XP so i can't commment from that perspective, but it works like a charm on Vista!
