1 out of 5 stars Not Impressed   December 11, 2008

It's quite difficult to really review this sort of software: I presume its firewall worked at blocking nasties, and that the AV was effective. However, what makes a standout product in this category is more intangible stuff: how easy is it to configure? (average), how much ram/cpu time does it take up? (too much), how good is software support? (abysmal). Regarding the last point, I'm not the only person to comment (search web) on Panda's tech support shortcomings.

Once, the automatic update feature failed to download a patch so I had to manually re-install the program in its entirety. But it never allowed me to do so, stating I had to un-install the original (I had). Following all their suggestions (including deleting registry keys - why should I have to go thru this stuff just to get rid of a program), nothing worked. So on that particular PC I have free AVG instead - so what was the point in paying money to Panda? To add insult to injury now my subscription on my other PC has expired I'm getting constant (every few seconds) nagging reminders on the desktop saying I cannot use the program until I renew. Suffice to say, Panda is being uninstalled as I type this! Funnily enough, even the link to give your reasons for uninstalling lead to a non-working page...

There are 100s of AV progs out there so make sure you read all the reviews before you spend on something this important.

5 out of 5 stars Great product   September 25, 2008

I'm a computer engineer and most of the time quite sensible on the net avoiding dodgy places without the need of any antivirus. I originally bought panda anti-virus 3 years ago and have continued to upgrade ever since. It has a very simple interface and does exactly what it says on the tin! Protects against against all know AND UNKNOWN virus by watching for anything suspisious. It doesnt slow down your PC as much (cant be avoided) as Norton or McCafy either. I have multiple friends that have used other antivirus which have been "over protective" and just annoying, cant access web sites, cant download e-mails or use MSN file transfer. Panda watch's over your computer and stops virus before you get infected, although a weekly scan wont be of any harm, up-dates every day and can be installed on 3 computers with only 1 licence, superb!
Panda's firewall is very easy to use and doesn't get in the way of online games although it is debatable if ifs even required since XP and vista both have a built in firewall as do most ADSL/cable routers.

Very highly recomended, very user friendly, plain english setup, cant be beten on price, what more do you want?
