Amazon.co.uk Review It was back in 1995 that Partition Magic first appeared on the scene, at a time when the idea of partitioning a hard drive into several logical drives was only of interest to IT professionals. Much has changed since then and with hard drives reaching ever increasing proportions, the use of partitions makes sense for all bar the complete novice PC user. However, it is not just for organisation of drive space that Partition Magic is useful. Having separate partitions for backups, or for running multiple operating systems on a single machine is a good idea, if not essential, and Partition Magic is an ideal tool for assisting you in these tasks. All the necessary tools are present, as they were in previous incarnations, such as Boot Magic, for managing multiple OSs, plus the ability to create and resize partitions without destroying data, but a number of useful additions have found their way into this new release. Most noticeable among these is support for both Windows Me and Windows 2000. The interface has been cleaned up and is now more intuitive, incorporating an Explorer-style tree view of partitions. A new Wizard makes it simple to copy partitions and you now have the ability to split FAT and FAT32 partitions. You can even undelete partitions, provided that the previously allocated space hasn't been overwritten. Partition Magic 6.0 focuses tightly on managing just a single aspect of your computing needs, but it undertakes the task with such aplomb that its hard not to recommend. --Jason Weston

Heavy price, but outstanding product. July 3, 2001 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought Partition Magic after the setup tool for SuSE Linux failed to resize my Windows Me partition. My major reservation was with the price: ... a single CD I would use once seemed a bit hefty for a seven CD/one DVD operating system that didn't cost half as much. After having used the tool, I can say that it's pure simplicity. It's extremely easy to use, with wizards for the most common tasks (such as the aforementioned partition resizing). In agreement with Andrew Bowers below, however, it is a bit pricey for something that's going to be used a very few times. That said, there's no arguing with the quality of the product.
Excellent with only 1 minor quibble... February 2, 2001 Stuart Bowers (Cumbria, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Partition Magic 6 is the latest version of the premiere partitioning software for Windows. The newest version adds support for Windows ME and Windows 200; although v5 did let you work under those OSes, albeit with a warning that it may nor work correctly. Partitioning is not something to undertake lightly, but thankfully this product helps enormously. Unfortunately, partitioning your drive is not something you're going to want to do every week, and once the drive is partitioned this software may sit unused for a very long time.My only quibble, and it's a minor one, is the price. Fair enough it performs a very important function admirably; but over 50 for a package you'll use once, maybe twice, is a bit over the top. The price is the only thing stopping me giving this package a full 5 stars, which it truly deserves...
This is better then version 5! January 3, 2001 dclarkee@aol.com (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
