Nice try, but no cigar! July 24, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Tried to copy a partition and resize under XP. Didn't work, but Vcomm support suggested that I copy, then resize. Still didn't work, so I bought Casper XP. Worked perfectly. Nice try Vcomm, but no cigar!
Update on Total Failure Review July 12, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Since posting my review saying that Partition commander had failed to work I have obtained a copy of Paragon Partition Manager free on a magazine cover disc. This worked efortlessly on both machines. I also have noticed that somebodys review of Partition Magic also had problems with Windows XP. Make your choice carefully but for me Paragons Partition Manager is the winner.
Total failure May 12, 2004 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have 2 PCs both running Windows XP. Partition Commander has so far failed to do anything useful on either of them. It will not boot from the CD (yes I have got the settings right in the BIOS) and insists on installing the option for selecting the operating system even though I only have one OS on the machines. The only good thing is the uninstall works correctly returning the machine to its previous working state.

I bought this software as a means of converting my harddrive back to fat32 format but found many usefull features beside. IT can be used with windows and linux and is thoughly reliable. ITS fast and can resize/change fat[All}ntfs, linux ext2,ext3 without loss of data or having to re-format your harddrive. It can speed up your hard drive, although i have to admit i couldnt see any speed diference,it makes your harddrive more reliable {maybe due in my case to the removal of ntsf} It has only one minor anoyonce which is you have to restart your computer to use it and when you first use it it has no mouse function until switch on as an option. A very good buy in my case and cheaper than all the other products i reviewed with more options!
Absolutely fantastic November 21, 2003 I. Harm (United Kingdom) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I have never used third party software for partitioning before. I always used to stick to FDISK and FORMAT commands in DOS. I decided to give it a try especially seeing how reasonably priced it is. I had only had the software a day and I ran into trouble whilst using FDISK, I couldn't boot at all from the hard drive. I couldn't get into FDISK or FORMAT with a Floppy boot disk. Then I thought I will give partition commander a try. I booted the computer from the CD and hey presto! I was in there and able to repair and reformat my drives, a two minute job. What a life saver. This software is highly recommended.
