Not impressed October 10, 2007 Mr. James Meyer (N. Ireland) 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
Not impressed. It might be good if it integrated properly with Word, but the integration to MS Word is hopeless, and messes up the toolbars and menus. On my copy of Word when I go to View, Toolbars, there is a list of about fifty PDF create toolbars. Nuance is aware of the problem - the fix is to take away the integration with Word, which they note, will prevent any bookmarks, comments and hyperlinks being copied into the resulting PDF documents - hopeless! And if it isn't integrated, you might as well install Open Office for free and it will convert Word documents to PDF.
PDF Disappointment March 12, 2007 E. J. Webb (UK) 27 out of 28 found this review helpful
There are numerous freeware and cheap programs which will install as 'printers' to convert printable MS Office and other files to PDF more or less well. PDF Create 4 promises to do something more: to integrate with MS OFFice programs, Word and the rest, to convert internal hyperlinks, bookmarks and what-have-you. It doesn't deliver! Rather, it hoplessly louses up Word's toolbar and menus and even after uninstall it requires serious effort to restore these to their status quo ante. Look carefully on Nuance's website and you will find that this is a 'described problem' which you can avoid by running a part-install, but then you cannot convert those internal hyperlinks, bookmarks etc. Ain't they heard of the Trades Descriptions Act? Obviously not! Caveat emptor. There's a lot of good freeware out there which will probably serve you just as well.
