DRAWMINUS X2 December 23, 2008 McColey (Buckinghamshire) Overall, I am quite disappointed with this because it's capabilities have changed very little since I bought DrawPlus 6.0 quite some time ago. It is cosmetically different, but if you own DrawPlus 6.0 and are considering this as an upgrade I would seriously advise that you think twice. I have however given 3 stars because some of the functions on here (and 6.0) are quite neat. The distort and fill functions are very good when used on their own, but when used as 'groups' feels too much like old DTP software to deserve anything more than 3. I wouldn't really say that it is easy to use, especially if you compare it to the likes of Photoshop, Paintshop or even the much lower budget Gimp. The individually selectable components of the picture are not as user friendly as being able to paint on layers and merging when satisfied. I don't like being negative but I have to be honest. I wish I had read a review like this before ordering... because as a previous user of DrawPlus 6.0 I wouldn't have ordered it.
Fantastic graphics solution. December 22, 2008 P. A. Smith (Hampshire) Drawplus X2 is a fantastic adaptable graphics programme that allows to do everything you will ever want to do in terms of drawing, painting, web design and much more. There are so many things you can do with this program that you will probably never even use them all. Like most good graphics programmes you need to spend some time getting used to it and finding out how to do all the things you want to do. I have only used it for creating a familyn tree and putting together a plan of my kitchen so far but found them relative straight forward to do and I am by no means an expert at this kind of thing.
Old-school vectors in this new version... December 18, 2008 Master Baker (Narnia, Wardrobe.) ...which is both good and bad. The previous version had a more art-media based toolset, whereas this new version has more of a traditional vectors approach, although most effects can be achieved with a bit of creative thinking. It is noticably faster than the previous version, and the new interface is cleaner but still familiar to previous users. I have used this alongside it's sister product PhotoPlus x2 and the two complement each other well - what is missing from one is present in the other, and you can have both applications running at the same time and switch between the two (given a suitably powerful PC, of course!) For those wanting a simple but fully-featured vector graphics and illustration program, this fits the bill as good as any other application in it's price range. A solid 4 stars.
Very basic December 18, 2008 John Nunn (Coventry, U.K.) This is a vairly simple graphics package that ofers only the most basic level of features, there are much better products on the market that offer a greater level of control for just a little extra money.
Easy for Beginners December 18, 2008 A. Marczak (Didcot) I am fairly technically minded and I have a pretty good understanding of how websites are built, however I'd no idea how to great flash animation, and I'm certainly not a graphic designer. This product aims to help you create stunning graphics, pictures, animations, web banners, all sorts. I should point out early on that my PC isn't quite up to scratch for this application, something to do with SSE, which meant that I can't put the brush strokes through its paces. But I found it very easy to create a flash animation. The tutorial was a little hard to read, and as there is no manual, you either have to print the tutorial out, or flit back and forth from your creation. Having done that though, I am now able to create my own banners, flash images and other things to go on my website. I also tried out the AutoTrace feature, which will take a standard image and basically pixelate it for you to edit. This was amazing, but again my PC struggled with it! The images I was able to create, even with my limited graphic design genes, make me really recommend this product, just make sure your PC is up to the task!
