I have dealt with a number of software packages programmed for home design purposes and this is by far the best I've come across. There are still some objects that could be added in a future version but the main features of walls, wall colours, ground colours, furniture variety, kitchen sets as well as bathroom sets are there.
3D Home Designer Deluxe is such a good software package on house architecture design, that the only improvement I could suggest would be to include an e.g. Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Wii, etc. in the list of items to select to put in the living room or bedroom:-) Other than that, I am ecstatic to be working and designing houses with such a powerful tool.
I highly recommend it!

This is GSP's offering of the 2000 version of professional software sold by Arcon. I found it to work very well and over a weekend developed several really good 3D views of the interior conversion I'm planning from sketched ground plans. It is easy to flick between "construction" mode where you put in the walls and fixtures and "design" mode where you add fittings and furniture and look at 3D or plan views.
The professional software heritage shows in really pretty sophisticated (and complicated) elements like roof-design. But the bargain price also shows in that some features described in the detailed pdf manual don't seem to be there (eg skylights). There are also a few important bugs like some icons not working and it is essential to visit GSP's website to fix these - mainly around compatibility with Windows XP. The fact it took me a few hours to work this out precludes 5 stars. Otherwise fantastic value at this price.

I was really pleased with this software for a number of reasons not least the ease of use. Working from original drawings i found entering dimensions and creating a template very easy, if the sizes weren't accurate you can always edit them accordingly. Adding windows, doors and fittings and thereafter customising them to your requirements is also very straightforward. Having a 3D view of the building and being able to walk through it was amazingly realistic and gave a very good idea of what the extension would in fact look like, both in general perspective but also with the furniture added - questions regarding were the furniture would go, would you have enough room to walk round the pieces, could you actually do with another foot here or there were all able to be answered very quickly. All in all an excellent package for any amateur wanting to have a valuable addition to their original plans.
