| Customer Reviews:
Audition 3 upgrade January 8, 2009 Lamont Young (Yorkshire, UK) Audition is the King of audio editors IMO, bar none. I have used Cubase, Nuendo, Wavelab, ProTools HD, Logic, etc. and none of them are as fast as Audition for cleaning up, editing, mixing and exporting WAV files. I can edit a series of soundfiles and save them to disk in minutes using my own shortcuts and quickly apply effects (including VST plug-ins) selected from my favourites. This new version supports VST instruments at a basic level which is no substitute for more advanced MIDI editing applications, but it is useful to be able to drop the occasional VSTi sound into a session when required. The built-in effects processing is still excellent and gives the semi-pro engineer or pro radio producer everything she needs when combined with a few of the best freeware VST effects available out there. Lots of other new features are less obvious, but the ability to run video while playing back a surround mix is overdue and the automatic cross-fades in multitrack view has saved me hours of fiddly editing. I have had very few crashes using this version and it runs very smoothly with 2GB RAM and a Core 2 E8400 under XP. Audition can be authorised on two computers and changing OS or upgrading system components makes the program think you have installed it on a new machine, which is a bit annoying. Still, the deauthorisation process is quite easy but just don't move the contents of your system drive to a new HDD before you have deauthorised Audition from it first as I did! My only slight niggle is that the application's help system has been 'Abodecised' to become less intuitive now. I just want menu references to remind me what parameters and functions do, not user guides for everything. The box does at least include a printed manual. Overall, this is highly recommended and you will never look back.
