A mare to install. December 30, 2008 Leevoy C. Smith (Tonbridge, Kent, England.) Firstly, make a complete backup to a partition of your system as you might need it. I installed this on windows vista HP 32 bit. I installed it first, took 1 hour give or take some minutes. After I installed disk two and registered the other applications, I clicked the roxio ultimate icon and it failed, due to some certificate error. So I restored an image which got rid of this application. I then uninstalled my Roxio Copy & Convert v3.4 and deleted all registry and folder entries that are roxio. I then hit start > run and typed in msconfig and ok. I then pressed services tab, then checked 'hide all microsoft services', then 'disable all. Then apply. Then I didnt select restart, I selected the startup up tab, then 'disable all' then apply, then restarted. I then installed both disk within 1 hour without any fuss. I then clicked start > run > msconfig, then enabled all the items I disabled then restarted. I also downloaded the SP2 for this product and installed it. Works o.k.
The most comprehensive consumer media package I've seen December 29, 2008 i wrote this (Bucks) From looking at the other reviews it seems that people who don't rate Roxio Creator compare it to premium priced software like Sony Vegas and Adobe Premier. I think this is missing the point. What you have here is more like Apple's iLife, a suit of easy to use programs that will let you do an awful lot with your music, digital photos and digital video straight out of the box. If you are new to video editing, DVD creation, etc or you just want a simple package which will give you impressive results quickly then Roxio Creator is perfect and a real bargain. Throw in all of the other features like MP3 manipulation and DVD ripping for MP4 players and you've got a brilliant package that just about everyone with a PC will find some useful.
Good fun December 24, 2008 Mrs. M. Gallagher (London) As someone who hasn't done anything in the way of multi-media before I have to say that I am enjoying learning what this software can do. I just take it one step at a time and so far I've had a great time messing about with photos and music and videos to my heart's content - and producing some very nice output that has been very much appreciated by distant friends and family. That's all I want from it and it does it well.
Much more than just a disk burning kit December 22, 2008 The Fat Monk (UK) I'll leave the detailed reviews of the individual functions of this software to the reviews already written, and concentrate on the package in general. For those of you who know Roxio software of old, cast away your ideas of simple CD burning and backup software... This package has everything multimedia that you could want. As with any collection of this sort, you wouldn't expect to find the depth of functionality that you would see in dedicated packages. That said, none of these packages scrimp on functionality and will do most people very well. Obviously the disc creation functions, being where Roxio have come from, is very well catered for - and the HD content on standard DVDs function is a brilliant addition. If you have an HD camcorder and a Blue-ray player (now available for under a hundred quid in some places!) or a PS3, then you don't need to fork out for a Blue-ray burner and blank disks (still expensive) so long as your home productions are less than about 60 minutes. The Amazon product description lists the breadth of functionality on offer here, and pretty well describes what you get - everything from photos through video and music software. It's not the fastest software in the world, and as others have noted you will need a pretty powerful machine to get the most out of it (and to not tear your hair out waiting for things to happen sometimes), but well worth the four stars in my opinion.
Requested but not sent! December 18, 2008 P. Barclay (Cheshire, England) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a multimedia user, I was particularly interested in this product. I am often called upon to present audio and video in a variety of media so it would be useful to see how the Roxio creator software compared with my current software. I requested the product via the Amazon Vine programme for review but the line was cancelled before dispatch and I have not had the opportunity to try this out.
