The solution I've been waiting for! November 30, 2008 Paul Madge (West Sussex UK) This is a first rate package for developing photoshows and doing other things - it is intuitive and therefore easy to use and the consequent results are really professional. The only negative is that initially it takes an age to load on to your PC but given that you only do this once it's hardly worth griping about. Highly recommended (the Ultimate version has enhanced capability around HD etc.)
Great for the home user November 26, 2008 I. Clarke (Lancashire) This is a fantastic all-in-one software product for the home user. I was amazed at all the features of the product covering music, photos & video. It is quite straight forward to navigate and user friendly if you are a little computer literate. I especially liked the back-up features. The photo slide show was fun to play around with and is good for things like a wedding or holiday. I haven't had a great deal of time to explore the full capabilities of the software but the music features are excellent and you can export to an ipod. This is obviously not a professional's software product but is excellent value for the home-user and offers the all in one package rather than having several different software programs for each application.
Serious installation problems November 23, 2008 The Brambler (Hertfordshire) I confess I didn't buy this from Amazon but had been thinking about it as an upgrade from Creator 9 and bought from a high street store. I think potential customers ought to realise just how difficult this package can be to install. I have spent hours trying to install on Vista without success, with repeated "Installation was interrupted" messages. Just look at Roxio's forums and knowledgebase to see how many people have had similar problems (and the various complex solutions offered there have not worked for me). I don't doubt that it would be great if it installed - but it doesn't. If you're looking for something guaranteed to work straight out of the box - AVOID! Additional note: It's only fair that I acknowledge that I have now (some time after posting the above review) successfully installed Creator 2009. Be aware that if you're not using a "virgin" computer it's necessary not only to uninstall any previous Roxio and Sonic software, including deleting any files left over by the Windows cleanup utility, but also to eradicate references to it in the Windows registry. Hardly straightforward, and frankly rather stressful. I look forward to using it and finding out why others are so enthusiastic about this package, but it's hard to be affectionate about something that is so user-unfriendly in the initial stages.
Great for burning cd's and dvd's November 21, 2008 piccolo (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Im not sure whats changed in the last couple of years but I love this product especially when it comes to burning cd's and dvd's my old program used to take around 11 min using Roxio it takes less than 5 it also supports divx which is great. The photo slide show is great fun too, allowing you to add a music track to a bunch of photos and adjust the playback depending on how fast you want to view each photo. Creating a home made video is easy as well, surprising easier to use than Microsoft movie maker and with the added functions.
Not bad for everyday use, but not for advanced users November 20, 2008 Ophiicus (Norwich) I haven't used everything included in this package: I don't have a video camera, or digital still camera. I have burned a DVD, a CD, a data disc and ripped a CD. It performed these tasks capably enough. However, there aren't the options for tweaking such as you get with Nero (and possible the luxury version of this). If you want to do something out of the mundane then you're a bit stuffed. However, for most users, this shouldn't present too big a problem. I only missed the advanced features because I'm used to having them, not because I particularly need them. In burning a DVD and ripping a CD, it gave me enough scope to do exactly what I wanted, although this was not a intuitive as it might have been; involving a bit of fiddling (but I never read instruction manuals, being male). There may be a stability issue as it failed on me a couple of times, but it could be my PC which is in dire need of an upgrade. So if you want an all-singing, all-dancing, washes-whiter type of application check out the advanced version of this, or Nero. If you want a relatively straightforward app, then this will most likely suit you quite well. I would like to give it 3.5 stars or 70% but as we only get a choice of five, three it is.
