Overpriced rubbish November 30, 2008 Soulseeker (Manchester, England) Sorry to be negative but just what has happened to Nero? I heartily endorse the poor reviews previously given. To be perfectly honest, if all you want to do is rip CD's and make copies, then use Windows Media Player, or buy a OEM basic Nero 8 disc for about 1 from any computer shop. If you want to rip and copy DVD's then go to Download.Com and get DVD Shrink and CD BurnerXP for free! It's dead simple, gives you good copies, but minus all the flashing lights, whistles and bells that Nero want you to pay 30/ 40 for. In fact, there's not much software worth paying good money for these days, believe me. .
Avoid at all costs - give your money to charity! November 23, 2008 B. Flaks (Congresbury, North Somerset England) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I cannot install this on Windows Vista 32. It hangs every time - I have wasted hourss trying. It is not of merchantable quality and is best returned to the retailer for a refund. Downloading an "update" from the Nero website did not help, just wasted more time. (Have Ahead been taken over by Microsoft, I wonder.) It does not deserve even one star and is a disgrace.
Very disappointing error-laden version November 12, 2008 D. King (England) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This version really is disappointing and full of installation and programming errors. Version 9.0.9.4d released at the end of October does nothing to improve matters. Nero Vision has seen no real refinement for a few years now, but this version works less well than Nero 8. It does not import files I recorded correctly from DVDs that Nero 8 coped with fine. Installation takes a remarkably long time and fails if you use the custom option to omit unwanted features. Currently my computer does not list Nero as available to either use or uninstall, though roaming round the hard drive to find the program files, I have managed to get it mostly working. Very disappointing. I'm hoping I still have my Nero 8 installation files and passwords. If so, I'll be looking for a refund.
Still the best in my opinion November 11, 2008 Moose (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a first class product! We have been using Nero for quite some time in our household now. Nero 7 and Nero 8 were worth every penny and Nero 9 has proved to be even better. There are loads of cool features such as BackitUp 4 - wich is really useful and easy to use...better safe than sorry! The TV feature is also really great to use and I agree with another review I read on here that being able to cut out the adverts is always a bonus! Having read some of the reviews, I am slightly confused why people have found it difficult or have experienced problems. I can only speak as I find and I can honestly say that I found it very easy to install and use - and I'm certainly no computer whizz-kid! It's a great product packed with too many features to list here and in my opinion is worth a close look. I read once that Nero are renowned for burning software. I agree this is still a major strongpoint of Nero 9, but it is also much more than that. Check it out!
I had no problem installing Nero 9 November 10, 2008 Andrew Chisholm (The Netherlands) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I installed the trial version from the Nero website on Windows XP. I had been using Nero 8, and because of the issues I heard that people had installing that I deinstalled the old version, used the Nero clean tool from their website, and installed the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 which, according to the website, is needed to run on Windows XP. I chose to do a custom installation and installed everything. I think that this is the key to avoiding having file associations changed as mine weren't. The install took a long time, about an hour, but went fine. The software operates rather like the previous version, I am looking for the detailed changes. One benefit is that the showtime countdown splash screen is gone! I hope this helps, Andy
