Great espresso November 29, 2008 R. Chambers (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used a Starbucks Barista espresso machine happily for years, but it finally gave up the ghost (thanks to the hard water in London) and I was set to replace it, but thought I would give this much cheaper option a try. The espresso is excellent (but no crema). Contrary to the instructions, do use an espresso grind and tamp it gently.

Perfect Coffees Every Time :D October 8, 2008 Gary Sereno 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Mine's just arrived, replacing the generic 3-cup I've used off and on for years. Every time I go back to my moka pot from my expresso machine I remembered why I kept it, only catch was a 3-cup pot is not large enough to make a mug of coffee. This size of moka is perfect for a large mug of strong expresso (well moka-expresso) coffee and I've just finished my first mug and boy was it good (I use Taylors Hot Lava Java coffee grinds). I first ran through just plain water to remove any machine oil, let it cool, then made the mug. The key thing to remember is not to fill the grinds funnel, it only needs to be about half filled, then tapped down. Oh one thing to anyone who's bought one of these or is thinking about it. When you wash it, just rinse it out. In the same way you season a wok, you also season a moka pot ;)
Excellent Espresso Maker August 17, 2008 Bluesbreaker (Birmingham England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
An excellent purchase and I would agree with all those who have already posted laudatory remarks. Can I just add 4 observations To those who want to know how many cups it provides - We get 295 ml of strong brown liquid from the 6 cup machine ( c. half a pint ). It takes about 4-5 mins to make the coffee - from absolute start with cold water to drinking coffee. Just enough time to microwave and then foam up the milk using the bodum 1446 device.( we exclusively drink lattes ) Mild-to-firm tamping down is mandatory and crucial to taste - despite the instructions. We use the bottom of a glass tumbler As regards using finely ground coffee - we don't have a grinder ; we buy Tescos Finest Columbian Supremo ground coffee and its fine.
Nice pot, but VERY small July 28, 2008 J. Watson (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Good quality, but rather on the small side. Will just about make 2 small cups of your strong morning coffee... :-(
