What a Christmas present......or any other occasion really January 1, 2009 T. Langston I got this for Christmas after hearing a friend speak highly of it. After playing a few games of it you can't help but be hocked. As others have said it is fairly easy to learn but is a long time mastering it. I am now looking at the expansion packs as I can see this game being played for a long time to come. It is fun and will keep the family amused for hours because although a game might be short you will want to play more than once!
I am still waiting to find the fun part of this so called game December 31, 2008 Mrs. D. L. Watch 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I spent hours reading reviews from many web-sites and overall, there appears to be thousands of people who think it is brilliant. I was looking for a two player game that had a strategy element and my hubby might get into (we like scrabble and games that involve some level of intelligence or strategy). It sounded really interesting. In fact, I bought a few expansion packs because I was sure this was going to be good (tried them out later to see if it enhanced the play - alas no). Disappointing: The rules are long and complex. My husband got bored after 10 minutes. On the plus side it is well made and colourful. It uses up a lot of room. I would like to play with someone who 'gets it' to see if that makes a difference! The on-line version is in German and complex to use to see what that is like. Perhaps it will come out of the cupboard one day, but for now - consider well before making the purchase.
I simply don't get it. What is the big deal about this game? December 16, 2008 J. Ackler (Orlando, FL) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am really at a loss to figure out all of the hoopla about this game. So much so that I read the directions at least five times to see if I was "missing" something. Alas, to no avail. Maybe I am just used to playing different types of games. Games with real strategy and head to head excitement. This game is not one of them. I wanted to like this game. (It cost enough) I really did but I find it boring and anti-climatic. I suggest you find someone in your circle who has this game first so that you can try it before you buy. It's pricey and if things turn out for you and they did with me you will have an expensive box taking up space in your closet.

A great game for a spare 45 minutes, requires next to no set-up which is brilliant! It can get quite confusing when playing with multiple add-ons and it's a bit disappointing that you need to buy them to get some of the player aids (a bag to keep the tiles in etc.) Having said that this is a really good low maintenance beginners game. I would certainly recommended it.

This arrived on Thursday and it's now Tuesday and we've played it 6 times. A brilliant game! Every time we play we get more tactical and now I'm back on Amazon looking at the expansion packs. Wonderful to have a proper game rather than something on a screen!
