Is Pasta Making a Two Person Job? January 4, 2009 Marina Oldridge (UK) Why do they call this Deluxe? This is the most basic of basic models as far as I can see. It was a Christmas present for my husband from a member of his family and he was really looking forward to using it. The cutter attachment feels solid and heavy and made for the purpose, but the main body looks cheap and flimsy. He attached it to the kitchen table to give himself space to work and I sat at the end watching. As he passed the dough through the roller part twisted one way and the base twisted the other and began to lift from the table at the unattached side. We ended up with me using the handle and him guiding the pasta through whilst holding down the base! The adjuster for the rollers is misleading - there is no marker for you to know where you are and when we got down to the last roll we found we'd already done it, even though it said we were on three. The actual cutter worked fine, but by this time we'd decided to take it back to the store and upgrade it. I also noticed a dirty mark along one side of the pasta, like an oil mark, and when I looked at the rollers there were sort of rust spots at one end. We still want to make our own pasta but this machine made the packets of fresh stuff at the supermarket look attractive. Fortunately we've tasted fresh handmade pasta before, so we'll look for another model. The only reason I gave this machine two stars is because you can actually make some kind of edible pasta with it and if this is the only one you can afford go ahead and buy it - just don't expect too much!
Heap of junk December 2, 2008 Mr. Stephen Eldridge (West Sussex) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Went out looking for a Pasta machine and purchased this "thing". Attractively packaged and in factory sealed box, we rushed home to play with our new toy! Upon opening the box, our glee turned into dismay as this thing emerged. Terrible build quality, one (cheap & nasty pressed-in) plastic foot missing which would have made the thing unstable. Sharp unfinished edges on the metalwork were not nice and the fact that none of the screwed-on covers fitted properly and the self-tapping screws were all inserted at skewed angles indicated that this thing had been thrown together in a factory that had never heard of QA. Worse still, looking at this thing "head-on" revealed that it was not even square, more like a parallelogram! I am certain that it would have broken before we got much (any?) use out of it. Took it back and got a refund after zero use and about one hour ownership. Then looked at Amazon and found similar reviews, so ordered an Imperia instead. Horrible piece of *&>^"`@*
waste of money!!! August 19, 2008 Mr. J. E. H. Clark 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
poor quality, cheap and tacky - I never even got round to making pasta before mine broke (it requires a little assembly) and the handle didn't even fit in its slot!would not recommend kitchen craft to anyone.
DON`T BOTHER BUYING THIS June 15, 2008 A. Milne 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Used the Kitchen Kraft pasta machine twice and then one of the rollers distorted making it unusable for making pasta. Very disappointed. Expect something to last more than a couple of times.
2 times unlucky?! June 2, 2008 Ms. C. Roehricht (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This has to be the WORST kitchen appliance I have ever used, and definitely deserves a no-star rating. Originally received as a gift, the pasta maker broke the second time I used it. I contacted the manufacturers, Kitchen Craft, who offered to send me a replacement, so I waited for it to arrive. And I waited. Then I waited some more. Eventually, 3 months later my elusive replacement turned up. And after just one use, guess what happened?! Yep, the stupid thing broke. I won't be wasting my time trying to get another replacement - I'll just be buying an Imperia one instead!
