Good looks, but... November 22, 2008 D. Cookson I bought this kettle purely because I thought it looked so good and I'm happy with it from that perspective. There were a few things I wasn't ready for, however, after a lifetime of cheap plastic kettles. It's very noisy, so noisy you can hear it upstairs. I think this might be a feature of metal kettles since my mum's metal kettle is also noisy. I've got used to it but it's still a bit dramatic. The surface of a metal kettle gets extremely hot compared to a plastic one. This is obvious when you think about it, and there's no need to touch the metal surface, but I scalded myself slightly when I first got it. Nothing serious, just beware for small children. It's not particularly quick on the boil. It's not slow but calling it an 'Express' seems a bit cheeky. My plastic one was quicker. Someone else mentioned limescale and it does need cleaning quite regularly. I think this might be due to the fact that it shows up more on the shiny surface but I'm not sure. If you're prepared to put up with the drawbacks in order to own what is an aesthetically nicely designed kettle then go for it. Giving it three stars is just on the harsh side it's probably a 3.5/4 star.
simply the best November 2, 2008 S. V. Darlow (Leicestershire England) I am so pleased I chose the Tefal Express Diamond kettle. I just love this kettel,it looks nice it's comfortable to hold, and I like the way the lid opens to fill it, it sits on it's stand easily and it boils in the nick of time, if I had one gripe and it's only a little one, it a bit noisy but I can live with that. Satisfied S Darlow
couldn't be happier with it August 12, 2008 Ross Maccabee (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Works great - quick, doesn't drip - on the loud side though Looks great - finger prints dont seem much of a problem Good build - has it a few months, everything seems as solid as day one. Can't comment on the limescale claims - i have soft water i filter anyway for the cash i doubt you'd find a better kettle on the 3 counts above.
Very Good - just a bit noisy when starting from cold August 9, 2008 Kerry (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Good styling - comfortable handle and has water level view and logo on both sides so good for left handed or right handed use. Great lid - easy to open by pressing the switch on the handle whilst holding it; very handy when you don't have two hands free and safer when re-filling /topping up the kettle after just boiling it, as you don't have to put your hand anywhere near the steam. Quick boil? - boils a litre of cold water in just over 2 minutes. Downsides - noisier than my previous kettle when started from cold. Once it heats up it quietens to a more reasonable level. I might have thought twice about buying this kettle if I'd known this, but there isn't much choice of kettle's with this styling and this type of lid, so overall I'm happy with it.
Metallic June 4, 2008 Mrs. C. Baxter 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this kettle just under two weeks ago ... it's been returned already. I'm thinking we might have just had a dud... it looked pretty funky, it poured so well and I would have liked to have kept it. The only thing was that after the very first boil; limescale formed on the inside of the kettle and probably one out of every four cups of tea (and I don't even drink that many a day) the water tasted unbelievably metallic which is something our previous kettle never did. This, as I said, might just have been a one off (considering previous reviews) but we've decided to buy a kettle that uses the Brita Filter system to see if this makes any difference.
