 A mediocre vacuum cleaner November 17, 2008

I bought this about 3 weeks ago and am not impressed. It replaces a 6 year old Dyson and does not perform anywhere near as well. It is so badly made when I was assembling it one of the plastic accessory holders broke off. It is also quite heavy to carry about & is not adept at picking up bits, it pushes them about the floor and leaves them behind when you change direction. It works moderately well on carpet but is pathetic on solid floors. Altogether a very disappointing purchase.

We read the good reviews of this cleaner and, looking at the price and what the blurb promises, thought we couldn't go wrong. However, whilst the machine works fine in its' basic state, once you start using the tools and hose a lot of the suction is lost. In addition, although the hose claims one of the best extensions amongst similar products available on Amazon, in practice it pulls the cleaner over when you try to get it past about 3 feet - perhaps the coils are too rigid. This, combined with the weight and general clumsiness of the thing, make it impossible to do stairs unless you work out regularly. Pushing the beast around on flat surfaces is also pretty hard on the back. And finally the dust container has a reasonable sounding capacity but it's more than halved by the very low line that you're supposed to fill it to. Whilst emptying it is comparatively easy, you have to do it every five minutes. Having said all that it is a good cleaner on the the flat, as long as you're not trying to use the tools.

Bought this Vacuum in May 08, To replace a Panasonic (lasted 18 month) and a Dyson (lasted 2 Month) as it looked good on paper having none of the faults of the previous 2. However it was not to be. It will not stand up and kept tipping up falling to the ground with some force. Took it back to the store (it eventually cracked the case with falling over ) they refused a refund saying I had to send it back to Vax, so I did, after 3 weeks and numerous 0870 phone calls they sent me another identical vacuum cleaner (previous one damaged beyond repair after 4 Month!). Took it back to the store again on advice from trading standards as the Vendor is responsible they cannot pass the buck long argument with Store Manager, they sent it back to Vax again and refused refund, After a further 2 weeks of silence ......refund following intervention of Trading Standards. Live and Learn don't know what to buy next they all seem to be Made in China Plastic Rubbish with fancy gizmos that break off or go wrong. Gone back to 20yr old Kirby for now.

This has to be the best vacuum cleaner I have ever used. I have a dog who sheds hair all year round. This VAX actually gets it all up. The attachment for the stairs is pure genius. I did think that it was time to buy new carpets.... now I don't need to.
My only gripe, is that it fills up too fast.

I have a Labrador dog and my cylinder machine took me ages to clean my apartment including the communal landing and a flight of stairs. It used to be a Sunday afternoon job, now within 20 minutes I have done the flat, the landing and stairs and watching the match on Sky. The tools actual do something and the lead is long enough to get around from one wall plug. All pluses no negatives, amazed how much dirt and hair this machine found. The best thing next to my sexy wife.
