"The FreeCharge 12V Personal Energy Source is a lightweight, durable, and efficient power source for mobile phones and electronic devices. Powered by a winding hand crank, it is independent of conventional power supplies and batteries, enabling the user to make and receive calls at any time, even with a flat phone battery. The FreeCharge 12V consists of a generic base unit and interfaces to the handset through a cigarette lighter socket. The charging protocols are matched to individual handsets by plugging in a cigarette lighter charger specific to each phone. When you recieve this product all you get is the freeplay freecharge Dynamo. Its is small, sleek and robustly made and it needs to be!! You get no adaptors like for phones or anything with it and the end just looks like a 12V car adaptor input. So the first thing you will need to do is get all the necessary adaptors for your products. Without the adaptors you can wind it all you want and all u get is a nice green LED illuminating on the unit. There could be many reasons why freeplay didn't want to put adaptors with the unit, for one thing there would be a lot of waste and added expense including the adaptors in. This is from a company who wants to look after the environment so any things they think you wont need or can get easily they wont supply. Only my suggestions why they havent but i think its a good enough reason. Also the adaptors can be picked up quite easily and cheaply, i would recommend ebay.
Now its is so easy to use and is quite fun. If you have a powerball then just think of this as another work out but u can charge ure phone at the same time. You could probably add your electronic device and then teach a monkey to wind it. (this would be beneficial because then you would save the effort). The technology inside the unit works out the rest, like how much voltage it needs to send. So far I have adaptors for my camcorder battery, Ipod and phone. This will be essential for traveling or for exploring remote locations.
